Best place to take little ones for a hike. My grandchildren loved the streams, bridges, pioneer building, and of course all the beautiful nature walks. We were able to pull the baby on a toboggan no problem. At the end the kids finished off with a toboggan ride. Very few people perfect place to get out. Highly recommend.

Beautiful conservation area with colonial era out buildings, homestead and mill. Sprawling network of hiking trails surrounding a pond and bubbling river. Picnic area by the pond. Gorgeous area to spend an afternoon. Big hill for tobogganing in the winter.

Gorgeous! Multiple paths to explore. Some paths might not be suitable for a stroller. Walking through the village is like a voyage back in time, specifically seeing the old saw mill. Bring a bottle of bug spray as mosquitoes are on full force inside the forest.

This O’Hara Homestead is definitely a local treasure in Madoc, Ontario. The moment we arrived at this place, we both said, “OMG! This is a hidden gem! How on earth we don’t know about this place????”. It’s picturesque to see the river, the forest on one side, and then you see this beautiful bridge with a roof on top of it on another side. As you peek on the other side of the bridge, you will see the water flowing downstream with the historic mill building and the water wheel. This is a perfect spot for taking wedding photos, or going on a family picnic or romantic couple walks or kids roaming to learn more about the history and the legacy about the O’Hara family. On special days of the year, they have special occasions that open up for people to experience special events such as the Old Fashioned Christmas in December. This is a MUST VISIT place whenever you are making a visit to check out the Town of Madoc, Ontario!!!! Highly recommend this historic place especially it opens all year round. Different season, different vibes, different experiences, different adventures!
