About Nova Physio

Three clinical divisions are offered within Nova Physiotherapy.

The first division has offered traditional musculoskeletal/orthopaedic physiotherapy treatment for over 30 years. Nova's physiotherapists are devoted to high quality care with focus on their manual therapy skills, educating and motivating patients to increase their independence and physical abilities. Nova provides care for all musculoskeletal disorders including motor vehicle, work place and sport related injuries.

Nova's second division, the pelvic floor physiotherapy division known as IPPC-Incontinence & Pelvic Pain Clinic, began over 25 years ago. This clinic is recognized as a pioneer of pelvic floor physiotherapy within North America, offering care for all forms of pelvic floor dysfunction including bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunctions to all populations in need at a time when these issues were rarely recognized. At Nova, pelvic floor physiotherapy is available to adults (female, male, transgender and transitioning) as well as to children suffering with pelvic floor disorders such as bed wetting. IPPC-Incontinence & Pelvic Pain Clinic began as a small division of Nova Physiotherapy providing treatment to a population suffering often in silence since little attention was focussed on this medical concern at that time. Over the past two decades, IPPC has evolved into a fully-functioning clinic networking with esteemed pelvic floor clinicians around the world. In 2009, IPPC was honoured with an invitation to collaborate with scientific researchers in the Netherlands to assume the North American arm of data collection. IPPC was identified as distinct in fulfilling education and clinical experience requirements necessary for this research study.

Nova's third division was created over 15 years ago, with the pelvic floor physiotherapy division expanding into the Nova Physiotherapy & Women's Health Centre. This women’s health division provides the much needed focus for the care of women pre- and post-partum.

Nova's physiotherapists focus their practices to these special populations and their unique needs in medical care.

Not a pleasant experience for me, I feel like it is nothing more then a money grab. Went in for pelvic floor physio to fix a dryness problem. Came out with severe abdominal pain, inability to sit down, uterine prolapse, rectum prolapse, difficulty walking, reflecting pain in the chest, and many more symptoms to go along with that. I did everything the physio therapist told me to do, and I voiced my opinions, my symptoms, and my conserns to her and she ignored them and never reported them. I am in worst shape now then when I first showed up there. I wish I had never gone. To those who go back to do this type of physio; you're brave to go back to that hell.

Overall not a good experience. I chose Nova because I felt more comfortable going to a physiotherapist that had experience with pregnant women. I did not go for pelvic floor physio, which I do hear they are very good for, but for pain in my leg brought on by my pregnancy. I did tell the receptionist several times that I was not making an appointment for pelvic floor, just that I was pregnant, but when I arrived that is what they thought I was there for. I said again I was not there for pelvic floor but was still given a questionnaire to fill out that did not relate to me at all. It’s also a good thing that I brought my own shorts, when I had asked over the phone if I needed a change of clothes I was told no and that an examination gown would be provided. The initial appointment was only 20 minutes long and the physiotherapist did say at that point she didn’t really know where the pain was coming from, but gave me a few exercises to try at home. I was told to expect that the appointment could go up and over an hour. If that much time was scheduled for me, then why not keep me longer and do more to figure out what was wrong? My second appointment was scheduled to be only 15 minutes long. I was shocked to find that I had to pay full price for 15 minutes where I was re-assessed using the same methods as the first appointment, I had 1 of 3 exercises taken away because it was hurting me and she did not try to determine why it was making the pain I was in worse, I asked for more exercises to do at home and was not given any and the physiotherapist still didn’t know where the pain was coming from. The appointment was very rushed. She didn’t do any treatment in office other than massage my hip and back. When I went to schedule another appointment, which also would have been 15 minutes, I was told that they physiotherapist I was seeing was leaving so I would have to see someone else. That was it for me, why put a new patient with a physiotherapist that was going to be leaving? What really prompted me to write this review is that since the pain just kept getting worse I went to see my usual physiotherapist, who knew as soon as I described the pain he knew what type of pain it was and then went on to putting me in different positions and trying different things with me for an hour to determine where the pain was coming from and then tried several exercises with me to see what worked. Every appointment I’m kept for 45 mins to an hour and various treatments are tried in office. That is the level of care I was expecting at Nova and did not receive.

If you’re looking into coming here, PLEASE DO. The staff is incredibly friendly and polite while the therapists are incredibly knowledgeable, patient and understanding. Katie walked me through the entire process beginning, middle to end making sure I was comfortable. Absolutely recommended

I strongly recommend Tami Prado, physiotherapist, who works here at Nova. I've worked with her in the past, and I can attest that she has great listening skills, she cares about her patients, and she stays up-to-speed on research/evidence relevant to her practice.

Physio was amazing today! I was so nervous going into it I could feel my heart rate going up and was quickly calmed when the physio walked into my room. She was so patient and calm and reassuring to me. I was so suprised at how easy this appointment became for me. I am not at all worried about my next appointment!? The only reason for my 4 stars instead of 5 was the receptionist was a little cold in conversation.

This place is 100% a money grab I have spent nearly 6K from 2012 up until late 2021 as a male they have absolutely zero knowledge when it comes to PFD in fact I had to do all the research myself and LUCKILY thank GOD I was finally able to find a program that works for me and that tackles and addresses the issue of a hypertonic pelvic floor I highly suggest males look up "Vibrant Pelvic Health" on YouTube they have a 3 month course it cost money but it will be money well spent unlike Nova Physio where you just keep handing over payments for 20 min sessions that keep you in a revolving door of symptoms and they want $70 per session? what a joke. Oh yeah, not to mention back in 2012 I was actually taught to do kegals which in turn was making my symptoms worse this place is a total gong show don't waste your time or your money here!

Wonderful therapists. They really listen to your concerns and are very caring. I have seen them after each baby (3) and each experience has been very positive. Great for prenatal care too!
