National Cartage Ltd - Regina

National Cartage Ltd. started in 1939 from humble beginnings - with a horse, carriage and firewood for sale. John and Ruth Kreller took out a $500 loan to help grow the business and by 1956, the company had a fleet of three trucks. It was at this time that John and Ruth's daughter Lorraine and her husband, Al Yaehne, purchased the company.

Warehouse service was added in the 1960s, followed by railcar service and city delivers in the 1970s. In the 1980s long haul service between the prairie provinces began. By this time, Al and Lorraine's sons, John and Brian, become the third generation to work for National Cartage. 

The 1990s saw expansion from Regina to Saskatoon with John running operations out of the Regina terminal and Brian overseeing operations out of Saskatoon. MattJenn Enterprises was purchased in 1992 allowing the company to offer irregular route service within Western Canada, the Midwestern United States and the Pacific Northwest. 

In 2000, Al retired after nearly fifty years and John, and his wife Cheryl, purchased the company. By the end of the decade, a fourth generation was now involved as John and Cheryl's son Tyler became the Regina Terminal manager. In 2014, the company celebrated it's seventy-fifth anniversary and welcomed a potential fifth generation into the family business. 

Four generations later and at the heart of everything National Cartage stands for, is family and old-fashioned family values - this includes relationships with customers and the people we hire. 

For 80 years, National Cartage has developed a strong reputation as a proud and dedicated transportation company. Rooted in our family values and coupled with commitment to excellence, hardwork and honesty, we have grown into a first-class organization.
