The best thing I’ve ever done for myself is walk into Nancy’s office. When I went to see her...I was struggling, but couldn’t even pinpoint the exact reason why. I just knew I "didn’t feel like myself." After trying everything I could think of to feel better, (including seeing another counsellor when she had a wait list)...nothing changed. When a space opened up with Nancy...my life literally changed. After a few months of seeing another counsellor, and me calmly speaking with them with no emotion whatsoever. The moment Nancy sat down and asked me why I was there...it was like everything I’d ever held in my entire life came pouring out in tears! The second she looked at me with those warm caring eyes, it’s like my body must’ve known I was safe and everything came out! I was completely embarrassed, and with her incredible humour and caring she set me right at ease. From that day, I saw her every week for a number of years...(until I moved out of province or I’d still be happily seeing her for check-ups). And I wish I could express into words how she changed my life. When I started I didn’t have a strong sense of myself, who I was, what my boundaries were, what was acceptable behaviour to accept for myself and what wasn’t. I didn’t have any backbone, and it caused me constant confusion and misery. She was there by my side...helping me discover who I was, and because of her I found my voice. Discovered my boundaries, worked through past and current traumas and struggles, and countless other things that I could never fit into this review. Because of her I now feel I am a strong capable woman, using the tools she gave me to approach every obstacle I face with courage and confidence. And the strength and education I gained through her, has helped me to help others who may be struggling in their own lives, and encourage them to partner with their own "Nancy," as they can see the profound positive change It has had on me and my life. There is not a day that goes by that I am not grateful for everything she taught me, and for how profoundly she impacted my life. If you are struggling for any reason, I couldn’t encourage you more to reach out and partner with someone as incredible as Nancy. Who will inspire you to find that light for life inside of you, until you are able to see it for yourself. Thank you Nancy, for being such a bright light in this world. I owe you so much!
