About Morning Sound Farm
Peter and Marilyn Goertzen originated the farm tours in 1989 at Maplewood Farm near Kleefeld, MB. They served students and teachers there for 18 seasons. They still live there, farming sheep and cattle. The Lawrenson family purchased Morning Sound Farm in Sanford in 2004 and worked with Danea’s parents, the Goertzens, to establish the farm tours in 2007 at this location. Morning Sound Farm is a reclaimed feedlot that previously housed up to 6000 head of cattle. The process of changing the property to a family farm continues to involve restoration of the land, water and infrastructure, as well as learning about sustainable farming practices, like rotational pasturing and natural fertilizer gardening. Tourism is another sustainable practice that impacts the next generation, both those who provide and those who receive the tours. We want to help visitors gain a greater appreciation for where food comes from and to get a chance to talk to farmers who are eating what they grow.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Never heard of the place till our city friends invited us to join them. We took our 5 grandkids ages 3-12 and all loved it including us. Favourite for the kids were the bunnies. They Loved just sitting there holding them. They also loved the 15 minute hay ride through the pasture and the many goats. I loved the clean bathrooms and that there were several of them spaced around the property. Lovely picnic area. Two hours was lots of time for our group. Very friendly people working there and rates are reasonable and worth it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My wife and I took our daughter and niece for family day and it was excellent. Both girls had the best time riding ponies and petting all of the animals. They even got a little piece of wool sheared off one of the sheep to take home as a souvenir. Will definitely be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was our first time being here and our children loved it! The owners and staff were so kind to the animals and to the children. So many wonderful things to do here including milking a goat, tractor and pony rides and petting goats, chicks, bunnies and cats. The kids were so excited with their special wool souvenir. :) We're really looking forward to being back very soon. Thank you so much for such a wonderful visit! The kids can't stop talking about it. :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are so many engaging hands on activities for kids (25 guaranteed activities)! Very well organized and run. There are a wide variety of animals, flushable toilets, hand washing stations, playground, and picnic area to eat at. Fantastic experience and highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love the place. Whole family went there and had a blast. Place is well kept, very clean even the washrooms were tidy and very well maintained. Wide variety of animals you can interact and the staff are the most friendliest people I've ever encounter. Overall I will rate the place 100++. Never a bad experience. Highest recommendation!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thanks Morning Sound Farm for giving my family a farm adventure today. Lots of different areas spaced out for my kids to see and interact with the farm animals. Definitely one of the more authentic farm experiences. Seeing the sheep being sheared and the goat milking was unique. My kids loved the goats and getting hold baby chicks.
