Long time member and frequent user with no issues. Keep up the good work Modo. Also ppl please compare EVO and car rental and pick what works best for your planned trip. Much cheaper than owning a car.

Unfortunately had a bad first time use experience. Had difficulties to access the underground parking lot where the car was as the instructions wasn't saying about a very small detail, I got there a few minutes before my booking and spent the time trying to figure out what to do as it wasn't working, while residente were coming and going (I couldn't go with them just like that) and had to wait every time to try again. Time was passing by when I called support and he told me about the "detail" that wasn't clear in the instructions and when I said I was wasting the booked time to figure that out he said he could extend it , so I asked if it would be charged he said yes. Basically, anything I would do at that time and I didn't even had access to the car, I would be charged. I told him that was my very first time trying to use it and he started giving a "lecture" about reading their instructions, arriving earlier (which I did, should I be there 30 min. Before?!) and I just didn't have any more time to waste. Finally could go in and my fob key wasn't working - first I had to figure out where to use it, just after the fourth try. Support guy was insisting to extend the time (to charge extra) and said one hour later, that I didn't need. I was saying no several times but he couldn't hear apparently because i was in an underground parking so he just said he confirmed the extension and hang up! I was so mad at that point with the whole situation that I ended up not even using it, got charged of course and I found an Evo and got that without a problem and a lower fee as they gave me credit (that I didn't even know) for a technical issue they had previously, and could drop it just steps away from my door. Modo still have a lot to improve, customer service, training, services... That was very frustrating, don't recommend.

Great way to get around with a good selection of cars and pretty affordable for slightly longer round trips (like to get groceries). I have a very good experience with the customer service. In my experience I found people that you can actually talk with and are not trying to screw you over (which is very refreshing). I definitely recommend them.

Attention Business Owners, MODO is not worth it! Go with Evo or rent from U-haul if need a bigger vehicle. I signed up for business account, as soon as they received my $250 deposit they started halting my business application and added additional questions for a dispute I had with them as an individual some years ago. I told them I don't remember the nature of dispute and if it matters they can cancel my application as my business just bought another vehicle and wouldn't even need modo. Now they have stopped responding to me all together. I cancelled my account on the portal and now have to wait 90 days for a refund that is only a few clicks away. This only shows the level of unprofessionalism and incompetency of modo staff.

Modo engages in dodgy business practices, charging their members random fees based on unsubstantiated reports of other users. Joined this car share service and used it once, for a 26km trip. Trip cost $28 but I was fined an additional $25 for leaving the tank less than 1/4 full. Subsequent correspondence showed that it was the previous driver who had left it to me less than 1/4 full. Modo said they would refund the amount to me, but once they did, they then re-applied the fine. I closed my account and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

I have been a Modo member since 2007. I would never go back to owning a car because it is so much more convenient and cheaper to be a member of Modo. I tried Car To Go when it was still in business and found it didn't suit my needs. I am also a member of Evo, but again I prefer the two way trip formula for Modo. I suspect the negative reviews here stem from the fact that some people don't understand co-ops where you are a part owner and are expected to be responsible for a number of things such as: filling the gas tank when it goes below 1/4 tank; returning the vehicle to it's home parking space on time as someone else may be waiting to use that vehicle; keeping the vehicle clean and respecting the fact that some vehicles do not allow pets as some people have allergies; and being aware of any damage to the vehicle which should be reported to Modo, so that they can deal with it. If you can't handle this level of responsibility, you should perhaps consider giving up driving. But please don't go out and buy a car as there are already far too many and our planet can't handle any more.

I love Modo! My main complaint would be the app interface (the map view can be slow to load and it would be nice to have less clicks to book and less bugs/glitches) but the benefits and quality of Modo far outweigh any downsides. I have saved a lot of money from selling my car and using Modo/cycling/walking/public transit and the cars are all fun and varied. Can't wait for more fully electric cars to join the fleet!

Joining Modo is a decision which keeps getting better! We were unsure about a car-free life when we joined years ago, but have found it so easy with Modo. The cars are clean and well serviced and being able to select a car to suit the trip we are taking is a real bonus. If you are unsure about making the move to car-light or car-free - try it, you will like it.
