I attended the esthetician program and it was the worst thing I could have done. I spent 15grand on the program to have teachers who didn’t know what they were doing and not learned anything. You would think teachers who have to teach things would know how to do it. Example eyelash extensions, my one teacher was AFRAID of eyes.. and the other one hadn’t practiced it since she went through the schooling. The makeup training was literally watching YouTube videos from makeup in the 80’s… I will never reccomend this program to anyone and now I am stuck with 15000 debt and no skills from the whole program. The tool and products they gave us I would never use on anyone or any client because they were so terrible and cheap. Coming to this school and doing this program is my biggest regret. Please do not attend this school.

I’m not one to do google reviews , this is my first one. I went to mc for the hairstyling course. My experience could not have been worse honestly. They pushed us through like cattle. So many of us not ready. I was one , now I’m in a apprenticeship and finding it very stressful because there is so much I needed to know that I don’t, it was more beneficial to the school to send me to a salon to finish over half my school hours to get the next 17,000 from the next student to take my place. Honestly if your thinking of enrolling in a hair school, don’t chose mc red deer. You will not feel ready or confident coming out of school. It’s sad. I’m now having to pay for additional training because I need to feel more confident in my career.

Been here many times over many years. Last time was the worst. Started out with a call to change my appointment to 15-30 min later. They said many called in sick. I've heard this before. The student who was assigned to my hair cut, was brand new. Did not even know how to hold the scissors and comb. Thank goodness that the instructor stepped in 4 times to show and then eventually do 98% of the job. Students should not be allowed to work on a live person until they master the mannequin head. And then start with a straight cut, not long layers like mine. It was scarry. I'm glad the student only did a couple tiny little snips. If they are short staffed, then the customer should be a start to finish demo, not given to a brand new student who was clearly not remotely ready for real hair. The sinks are old and terribly painful on the neck. With the tuition these places charge their students, it should be a top quality shop. This one has gone downhill over the years. I usually enjoy the wash, but this was a feeble attempt at best. Unsupervised. The student didn't even know how to apply product and dry with a diffuser after the cut was finished. BUT, what I DO LIKE is, that an instructor checks and fixes (in my case does) the cut. I've paid for expensive cuts, look good when I leave the salon. Then when I wash my hair, I find the cut uneven and poor. No one checks it over. Some hair stylists just can't manage long layers. Maybe it's not taught and for enough at the schools.

I had Pedicure done there and it was amazing. The girls were very friendly and did exactly what I wanted. They fit me in a timely fashion. Everyone was happy and in a great mood the energy in the studio was awesome I would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends

After going in to get a hair cut and colour done I can safely say the students themselves are quite talented. However the teachers seem to be failing them. After talking with a couple students and alumni, hearing their stories and complaints it seems the school is more focused on dress code than teaching real salon/barbering skills. For potential future students: For example students must wear all black clothing and have a face of make up. From a business stand point this is understandable, they have to look professional, but limiting the wardrobe of someone who can barely afford their tuition seems harsh. Professionalism is not limited by colour. As for skills I understand every school is known for something it focuses on. “A Jack of all trades is a master of none”. All I ever heard of was how many times they’ve had to practice perms. Perhaps they should broaden they’re horizons and take the time to focus on other subjects such as colouring or men’s cuts. Communication from the school to both students and teachers seems to be a major issue. Students and alumni emailing about simple questions as dates or tips are left unanswered and helpless. Ironic seeing as they’ve payed so much to learn. For customers: Yes, I would recommend getting your hair done here. There are many talented future stylists. However. Keep in mind these are STUDENTS. If you DO NOT have the patience to sit in the chair and wait potentially hours for a simple cut or risk walking out with a shorter cut than intended, perhaps pay the extra to go elsewhere. And don’t forget to tip, what you pay at the front desk goes directly to the school. In short: If you’re thinking of applying here ask around and do some research first. If you’re wanting a cheap haircut, be patient and tip.

I enrolled here and from the moment I got there the school itself is super unorganized. End dates and leave of absences are constantly changing. They push students out who aren’t ready and I can say myself that I should not have been graduated. I haven’t been able to get in touch with the school for help at all even though they told me if I needed anything I was more than welcome to ask. I feel as though I wasted my money and time going to MC. I’ve heard of some of the things the staff go through and that’s probably why nobody ever stays and why it’s understaffed. It’s sad to see my friends who are still in school struggling with the same problems I did. It’s unacceptable how we are treated and how we are trained. We spent a lot of money and time to be there. I know a lot of people went into debt to be there I was one of them and I can’t get an apprenticeship cause of how poorly trained I am. Would not recommend. Spend the extra money and go to Delmar.

This is my favourite place of all time. The students do an amazing job on my hair and nails every time, I walk out of the building feeling like a new women! They have great pricing too. Definitely recommend!
