Super helpful staff . Darren really went above and beyond to help me out with my double kick pedals and saved the day since I had a show coming up soon . Glad to have this store in town . Great experience, And super thanks again to Darren .

I am renting stuff regularly from this store and it was good until today. Today, the guy in rental pounded the receipt on the table and behaved in an awkward way. I was just asking to please check the cables later since I am in a rush and he reacted with a bad attitude kind of. I am renting and buying stuff from this store for more then 4 years now, and satisfied with the service most of the time. I hope this does not happen again. I am not mentioning any names today.

Long and Mcquade suffered a data breach which leaked email and hashed passwords(verified), when emailed about it multiple times, no response was given and was ignored. This is something that they need to be informing their users about. Terrible IT security practices

Long & McQuade had a data breach and as a direct result my information has been sold on the dark web. Apparently theyve had another recent breach meaning they have zero security, do not give them any financial or personal information. Guitar setups are not great - the only shop that won't cleanup your guitar. When I asked about this the guy at the upstairs counter said to just mention I want it cleaned when I bring it in, despite that I had already mentioned this to the tech directly.

Staff: Nice, approachable Prices: Moderately high; it's a high-end store Selection: High The reason I rated it 2 stars is because I had an unpleasant experience where I rented an electric violin for 3 days ($41), and took extra care to ensure it was quiet enough to not bother my roommates; explicitly stating this concern and having the staff member demonstrate it. At first they plucked the strings, which made very little noise, then I told them to try the bow, and it was still quiet. As someone who has never used a violin before, I saw this and assumed it was safe, then when I got home, I tried it and realized you have to exert a certain degree of force, otherwise it's going to squeak and not produce a strong tune. The sound of this violin (when turned off and with headphones plugged in) was NOT quiet and though I'm inexperienced, I daresay it was on par with that of an acoustic violin And so, I called back 4 hours after renting to discuss returning for a partial refund. The person I spoke to, a different staff member, said most of it (and potentially all of it) would be returned, but this was not guaranteed, so I walked back to return the violin. I was given back half of what I paid (50%) despite renting it for 4 hours (5% of total rent duration). On one hand, I'm glad they agreed to a partial refund and I wasn't actually expecting a full refund, but on the other, the instrument was misrepresented and falsely advertised as almost silent. The 2nd staff who said 'most' or 'all' of the rent would be returned also threw me off I'm not being petty over $20. I'm tilted I had to walk more than 80 minutes on a Monday in negative temperatures and receive false information to make me rent an instrument. Logically their refund system makes sense, but I believe my case is special because of how the product was misrepresented (I made it very clear it had to be quiet) Edit: 1-stared it after realizing I only received $15.82 (39.55% of total) rather than $20. Again, not petty about money but I'm also not in a great mood right now

Great store, nice staff. Selection of guitars wasn't very good in terms of premium models. Could only find a couple guitars over $1000. Was directed to the Cambridge location.

Went in last night looking to get some information on electronic drum kits and what would be a good choice in my price range. Spoke with the drum guru Mike for probably a good 20-30 mins and decided to go back home and think on it. Came back just after opening the next morning and my man Mike was there and got me all set up. Very knowledgable and easy to talk to. Thanks again Mike!!

All I wanted was a capo and picks which the attendant helped me find really quickly. But they have quite the selection of guitars and bass however. Might visit again. They are also open late which is nice and they rent instruments too.
