I needed some help with a request from Services Canada so I called Liberty and spoke to Calvin T. He said just to drop in so I went in with a stack of paperwork and explained it to him. He went above and beyond by reviewing items, calling CRA & Services Canada. All total about 40 minutes spent with me. Unfortunately the result wasn't in my favour but Oh well. Calvin was awesome and when I left I asked how much I owed and he said nothing. I usually do my own taxes however I will be giving Calvin at Liberty Tax Service Westbank the business going forward. Thanks Calvin for your service.

Horrible service. 2 weeks and our taxes are not done. Won’t even return phone calls.

RUN. 6 weeks I waited for my simple T4 tax return to be filed. I left 4 telephone messages over the course of two and half weeks asking for the status of my now overdue taxes and Calvin (the owner and sole employee) would not return my call. I had to leave work (I work out of town) and drive 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to the office before close. I then asked if my taxes were complete and he says I never gave them to him... eventually he finds them complete and I asked if they had been filed as they were now overdue, THIS IS WHERE IT GETS WORSE.... he starts laughing at me, saying he doesn't work for free and I need to pay him first. How can I pay him if after 6 weeks, I still haven't been informed they are completed and he doesn't return weeks of phone messages?? He then threw an actual childlike tantrum, threw his arms in the air and said, "I don't need this s$@& in my life, go get your taxes done elsewhere!!!" I hadn't even raised my voice, only expressed my disappointment. At this point I have waited 6 weeks and my taxes are overdue so I simply explain that I couldn't pay if he doesn't tell me when there are done! I need them filed or I'm going to complain to his governing body. He then starts HOWLING!!! "What governing body, I own the place, I'm not an accountant, I have Zero designation. " I ask for his card, he refuses. Refuses to tell me who he is despite doing my taxes for years!!! Tells me his name is "Joe Shmuck." I then go to leave and mention I'm going to complain to his Franchise Head and he then tells me he is giving me my taxes for free but only if I promise I will come back next year, because he doesn't give things for free without getting anything back- I'm honest and tell him I am not coming back. How will I know they are done next year if he doesn't call and doesn't answer his phone? He then admits he doesn't check his messages, "as often as he should" but he does well and I tell him I just referred my Brother there 3 weeks ago and he asks if he was happy. He was holding my tax filing hostage so I actually had to lie and say he was happy as he was being such a child and I needed them filed. Turns out my Brother's experience was even worse. It's not even the mistakes but the zero accountability and full on tantrum that was ludicrous. I thought It was a joke and I was on a hidden camera show.

I was extremely taken aback by how I was treated on the phone. I asked a question about the pricing, and it was 100 dollars higher than anywhere else and I simply asked "why is that" the guy on the phone, who was apparently the manager was so rude and defensive and asked "if I have a problem with that" I said no and was just checking the pricing so I could get an estimate. He then told me not to come in and he would refuse to serve me. I'm not really sure what I said warrant that reaction I was being polite and tried to talk to him but he was just ready to fight. I asked if I could have HOs number or the manager and he responded with "I'm the only one who can fire me" he hung up on me 4 times each time with me calling back just asking if he could explain what I said wrong and if I could just have my appointment please. Finally booked me with another lady but I wouldn't be surprised if he canceled my appointment without telling me. I even said to him, I'm not trying to get you fired I'm just wanting some service. Couldn't believe a grown man was acting like that for no reason and he has management skills? I understand if someone's calling and yelling and verbally abusing you, but that's wasn't the case. If your with a customer simply put me on hold I do not mind waiting at all. Really disappointing that this is their standard for how they treat people seeking out their services.
