My brother did his PPL here and is now flying as a first officer for Cathay Pacific.

Never had any issues with the school. Robin W is a great instructor. He’s also my only instructor I’ve had at the school. Except Barry did my first flight and he is Aldo awesome. His mush stash is glorious.

My instructors were great, young, helpful and motivated. Completely let down by their management. If you want to train on C172 they only have one ... hopelessly overbooked 35 year old airplane. Promised to get more for several months ... still sitting out front unusable. For every flight I took one was cancelled due to mechanical difficulties with the plane. Doubled my expected time to get my PPL. When I switched schools after 20 hours and >$4,000 spent, they were needlessly difficult to get my Pilot Training Record ... and the CFI was rude and unhelpful

I did my commercial pilot's license here, as well as my multi engine and instrument rating. Dave Parry is an amazing teacher and excellent pilot, I tried several other schools and no one can teach like him. Unfortunately he is a very busy man and his time is usually booked up, but he is the best of the best!

Langley Flying School is a great place to learn to fly, and has graduated hundreds of successful commercial pilots, many of whom now fly with Air Canada, Westjet, as well as numerous other national and international airlines. Unfortunately, however, the reality of flight training is that it is “performance-based”. If you don’t meet the standards for safe solo flight, Flight Instructors won’t let you fly on your own—hopefully more training will solve the performance issues, but this is not always the case. One thing that is clear: pilot training is NOT a matter of spending a specified amount of money. Student are released for their first solo flight when they meet the necessary performance standards. The necessary performance standards revolve around flight safety. On rare occasions, students get frustrated when their progress is delayed, and take their frustrations on their Flight Instructors, but Flight Instructors know they must hold the line for safety’s sake. Sometimes frustrated students even take it out on the Chief Flying Instructor, but CFIs have lots of experience ---they have been around long enough to know that their responsibility is to the students’ loved ones, to make sure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day. Is Langley Flying School a great place to fly? Absolutely! Just go to the school’s website and look at the smiles on the faces of students who have just completed their first solo flight, or who have just passed their flight test—one picture is worth a thousand words! Have a look for yourself.

I did my multi engine rating with David (Chief Flying Instructor) at Langley Flying School and it was the best training experience of all my flight training. Ever since that rating, my general flying significantly improved. David's teaching experience taught me things I don't think I could have learnt with some of the young instructors at other flying schools. I highly recommend this school. It is like family here. Their aircraft hourly rates are very fair. Langley is one hour drive for me compared to Boundary bay which is 20 minutes. I still go here even though there are many flying schools in Boundary Bay.

Save yourself and go somewhere else. Had a difficult time getting in touch with the school and start dates were delayed 2/2 times. Paid for the instructor rating program but never even received an acceptance letter or a returned/dated contract. The administration is pretty useless. Only ended up getting 50% of my money back even though I never flew with them…

As a mature student with a long-lapsed PPL attending for recurrency I appreciated the courteous professionalism of Aaron the CFI and my instructor Sammit. Assignments were clear, Sammit was very patient and gave good demos and explanations. He always made communication easy by being available for arrangements and questions via text. He always listened carefully to my questions and gave clear answers. He was helpful about things I needed to improve and complimented me when I did well. Vancouver VTA radio workload challenged me, and I would benefit from a more structured approach to operating the radios. Time between flights was often longer than I wished as there seemed to be several instructors, many students and few aircraft. This wouldn't likely have been such a problem if I had chosen to book a string of frequent flights well in advance, and part of the time it was due to unforeseeable mechanical down time. Overall a very good experience. I will return confidently for further instruction.
