I love my Langford 16.6 Prospector. The best canoe ive ever paddled, easiest to portage (the most comfortable yoke ever).

15 foot Prospector (Langtex). I chose the Langford because it had a few unique features that some of the other manufactures did not. The first was the front movable seat, and they had a 2 tone colour that I really liked (the scheme on their brochure). The first disappointment was in discovering after my order was pretty much processed that the movable seat is an option, in defense of the Langford guys it did state fixed seats on my bill for the deposit so I missed it and they were willing to add it on. The communication was not great to which after some heated dialogue they did apologize and made good for the lack there of by means of some freebies. The shipping was also a bit of a night mare as they had a new carrier, I can somewhat understand the situation, however a quick phone call, text or email on their part could have alleviated a lot of pain and frustration. The shipping documentation from the carrier was misleading so when it arrived there was a fair bit of confusion on weight based on the size of the crate. Langford made good on it by having the unit delivered to my location rather than me trying to pick it up or dealing with it in the carrier’s yard. The unit was crated exceptionally well and it was easy to tell a canoe builder had made the shipping container. My next disappointment was when I removed it from the container the colour scheme was not the same as the brochure, the blue was more brilliant, and the trim was white and not gold as in the brochure (but still a nice looking canoe). The quality looked good so I was willing to live with the colour. I wanted to mention it to them when they called for payment of the balance however they never called and just put through the final owing on the same credit card. Hence my next disappointment, (that lack of communication thing again), when they put through the deposit I was told I would be contacted for the final payment as credit card numbers were not kept on file. I have had an opportunity to use it once and I am pleased with the way it handles, it was a slow moving river with a bit of wind, and tracking was not an issue. There is a fair bit of creaking though from what I believe is between the wood and PVC gunwales (I will try and figure out a cure for that). I have received several compliments on it from people. I read some place the weight was understated, I did weigh mine and it is spot on. Overall I am happy with the canoe and the Langford guys did try to make it up, however they fell off the wagon at the end again, had the communication been there they would deserve a 5+ so at best I can only give a 4. I don’t think they sell a lot of canoes in Western Canada and would have thought there would have been more dialogue. Don’t get me wrong they are nice guys they just lack on follow through.

We have been treated so we'll by the customer service that I simply cannot believe it! Last spring we broke a seat bolt, and a thwart and the parts were overnighted to us! Thank you to the management for such a prompt response.

We own many of the finest canoes made on earth. But, our finest built boat, and greatest pleasure to paddle, is definitely our Langford Huron 15'10". Treat yourself to canoeing perfection! They have a full line of canoes and all the accessories you need. There is even home decor stuff for paddling fanatics. The staff have been paddling since birth, so they know a thing or two about canoes.

Are they still in business??? Go elsewhere for your product. I ordered some decks from their website $50+ including delivery. Website said delivery that week. 3 months later, numerous emails and numerous phone calls = no decks and no refund. What a rip off! A person did answer the phone a couple of weeks after I ordered. said that they previously didn't have the material but now have it. Stated 'Yeah I better get round to doing that!' Still nothing from them! Trying to get a refund. No joy there either :-( They are happy to take your money and give you nothing. Service is non-existent.

Very dissatisfied. I ordered the 15ft Prospector early Spring of 2021 for delivery in June/July 2021. After numerous unreturned calls, I was surprised to get a call ton Sept 23 that it was ready. I called Langford and explained that no one has returned any of my calls since June and had no interest in the canoe as we missed the whole season. I contacted Langford on Feb 11 of this year and said let’s start over. I received an email the next day asking what colour I wanted. I responded and to this date no response. I followed up on March 18 and again March 23 with no response. I guess it’s time to move on? Too bad as I have always valued the Langford brand.Note: This canoe was intended as a birthday gift for my wife.
