Lakefield LLP began as WMCZ Lawyers in 1996 and rebranded in 2021 to reflect the evolution in our team and our approach to the practice of law.
With over 100,000 lakes and infinite fields, the Lakefield name pays homage to Saskatchewan’s beautiful geography. Our corporate office at River Landing in downtown Saskatoon overlooks the water that reminds us of our beautiful lake land to the north. Our legal practice is deeply rooted in agribusiness, which connects us to the entrepreneurial spirit exhibited in our fields to the south.
The name Lakefield is not solely about our location. It represents the work hard/play hard balance that is our aspiration. Our team works hard, both for and with our clients, and from the field to the lake, we celebrate our mutual successes with the same vigor.
Our logo also carries an important message. It not only signifies the interplay of a blue wave and gold sheaf, it is also like a fingerprint, representing our unique approach to the business of law, as well as the personal touch that we add to the provision of legal services.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This law firm did not handle my case well at all. The owner CRAIG ZAWADA was rude to me. They screwed up the sale of my rental real estate and I got fined by the CRA because these guys didn't know the law. When I talked to the owner of the firm he was an ass. He yelled at me, his customer, when I asked him to help me make it right. All I wanted them to do was guide me with a response like writing a letter to the CRA To help limit the $2500 fine I got because of their incompetence. All he said was you signed what we wrote for you. I said yes and I paid and trusted that you knew the law and what I signed you wrote. Well you signed it. He said this about 10 times over and over which was demeaning to me. That was his defense. He refused to help. They already got paid for the job. Don't use them for any of your real estate needs. STAY AWAY from them. Karma.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Do NOT use this law firm. They will charge you when you fire them for their incompetence. Ex. Note on this bill I was charged by the lawyer who had to review the rules to withdraw, in other words this lawyer had to ask the senior lawyers how to withdraw from a case and then went ahead and charged me for that. Stay away from this firm! There are other firms in Saskatoon or Regina that do no the law and can apply those rules when representing you.

It was my first time buying a home and he walked me through every step without making me feel intimidated or incompetent. He took his time to explain everything and I feel like I learned quite a few things about home buying and mortgages in general. If anybody is ever looking to buy a home (first home or otherwise) give WMCZ a call - Cam won't let you down!

It appears they just realized within the recent past I posted a poor review 2 months ago, not that organizations need to respond to google reviews. I did receive correspondence and a follow up call with one of their senior partners, much appreciated. For this I changed my rating. In thinking about lessons learned, the only correspondence with the original issue was by email, maybe one of us should have picked up the phone.
This may be a trend but I’ve dealt with this firm for probably close to 20 years. Now that partners have changed it appears that customer service has taken a backseat. In trying to update our wills in a very simplistic format, I received an email that indicates that I am in the wrong with respect to process and communication. I appreciate that updating a will is not a major income component, but just picking up the phone to talk to someone in a timely manner would be a recommended practice to this group of young lawyers.
