Lake of the Woods Electric was established in October, 1973. The company founder, Don McDougald, was a visionary who saw a definite market for his business, and as the electrical industry expanded, Lake of the Woods Electric did as well. In 1974, a 2400 square foot facility was erected on the Airport Road in Jaffray Melick. This was expanded to 5600 sq ft. in 1979 to facilitate the 20 plus employees. Services at the time included electricians for service calls, industrial, commercial and residential contracts, mechanics and service technicians for generator repairs and service work as well as qualified parts personnel.
