★ ★ ★ ★ ★ september 2016 my parents are almost at 5 years living at the steger residence owned by an american franchise called atria. I can finally say the staff are awesome. from kitchen to cleaning and of course the office staff. its like one big family and they really care. I wont talk about the 3 years prior as of course thats the past. so kudos to the new staff.
that being said, the place is still an apartment building . it does not in any way shape or form have my seal of approval for being senior friendly at all. the parking lot for visitors does not have a buzz code similar to the front entrance so coming to visit in the winter means a nice walk to the front if you dont have the correct buzz code. good luck taking your parents to your car in that same lot. leaving or entering from that entrance is almost impossible if you are in a walker or wheelchair or use a cane as no button to open door and its two heavy doors that need to be held.
front entrance is almost as bad and try to remove a walker or wheelchair from your trunk and bring it to the passenger door to help someone out of the car. inside apartments bathrooms, entrances, balconies etc are not level and difficult to move around. the backyard. yikes. not wheelchair or walker friendly.

My fathers health has declined in the last few months and I had to hire the nursing company that rents from the steger called Personal Touch. In the past my parents have had issues with them but after meeting with them and having my parents present everything has been resolved and Im confident they are in good hands. all in all its a good place to be and if it wasnt for safety issues id give it 5 stars.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love this place for my 98 year old Aunt and my 83 year old Mom. Mega bingo on Saturdays is so much fun. Regular bingo on other days as well. Music on Sundays is great exercise while dancing.
