I wanted the American Dream: I wanted to make a difference in the world, make the world a happier place.

So, I worked hard to be the best at everything I did, school, sports and work. Every failure and hardship that was thrown at me, made me stronger. Very soon, I excelled in the corporate world, and in 1999, I moved with my husband and kids to Canada.

Once again, life was hard, but I knew it was in the right path. Somehow I got the book: “Why we want you to be rich” by Trump and Kyosaki, which changed my look on the world. The cashflow quadrant opened my eyes and I started to put it in place by starting a business.It is incredibly easy in Canada to start a business and I felt that was what I was made to do. I searched what business was for me and started with a tutor/translation business, a marketing business, a specialty travel agency, a Chinese medicine-based clinic, etc. all the whilst I learned on how to run a business, how to invest. I was the youngest and only female who joined a local investment group, led by financial professionals, that taught me a lot about investments and taxes. When I divorced my husband, I needed an income while being able to be a mom for my kids so a corporate career was challenging, especially with the travelling. I knew I loved learning about finances and how to become rich. I have discovered that investments and taxes were so intertwined, I decided to learn as much as I could about taxes, as I learned investments with Fidelity and Edward Jones in the States so I started TaxAdVise in 2010, and it became quickly successful, as many clients didn’t feel someone was working with them, giving them the best return possible. In 2015, both my kids, Ayla and Kyran, went off to university, and I didn’t want the empty nest syndrome, so I listened to my clients, to become a Financial Advisor, so I could help them keep more money in their pockets. I learned the ropes of the industry and the profession with WFG and Experior, but their models weren’t fit for me. Being on the top for both companies, I decided to create my own financial brokerage; Koda Financial Architects.
