Kim's Pain Relief Acupuncture Clinic

I had high hopes for this place as there were so many good reviews. This was my first acupuncture experience, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The office did not look like anything I expected, the website was misleading in my opinion. It was sort of an awkward and uncomfortable introduction. I was not told what to expect or anything about acupuncture. I was told to take off my shoes and socks and look at a picture through my hands? I was very confused about what was going on. On the website they offer “needle free acupuncture” for people who don’t like needles. When I asked about this option, he said he didn’t know what I was talking about and proceeded to start sticking the needles everywhere (and no gloves were worn). After all of the needles were in, he put some lamp over me and said to sit for 20 minutes and I had to ask what it was and what it was for. After 5 minutes he came back and I asked for all of the needles to be removed because of how weird and uncomfortable I felt during the whole thing. Overall very uncomfortable, unwelcoming and not informative at all. I also have pain/bruising in my chest from how hard he was pushing asking me if if hurts when he pressed here.

I decided to try acupuncture as I'm on a 7 month waiting list to see a specialist for a nerve issue in my left hand which prevents me from gripping, possibly due to an older Ulnar nerve issue. I play guitar and stringed instruments semi-professionally and waiting 7 months to find out if I could get back to playing was frustrating. I was optimistic but cautious not to place too much expectation on the effectiveness of acupuncture, but at my first session at Kim's he told me I was a good candidate for results from acupuncture for my condition. And after 2 visits I had noticeable improvement. I'm very impressed. I've had 3 weeks of treatment now (there will be a total of 10 weeks) and I'm already back to being able to to practice guitar. The improvement is definite. I have strength and control returning to my left hand. I should post again once the 10 weeks is up for a complete review of course, but I have enjoyed results much sooner than I expected. I am careful not to be vulnerable to the 'placebo effect' where I feel something is working just because I want it to but in my case the results are clear, consistent and continual. I am very pleased that I made the decision to try acupuncture. Kim promised results and he was absolutely correct. It's working. 13 week update: I have completed the 10 week session as suggested by Dr. Kim for my condition. The improvement was continual and rapid and I now have full strength back in my hand. I have also now had 3 weeks since my last acupuncture treatment and the results are holding, as he predicted they would after 10 weeks of sessions. No stiffness has returned. I have cancelled my specialist's appointment, there is no need to proceed with it. And Dr. Kim, in our last session, showed me a pressure point on my neck that I can massage if any slight stiffness does start to recur in the future. If the issue should show up again with any severity, it's very reassuring to know that a solution is close by and that it definitely works quickly, without any waitlist, drugs, surgery, or physiotherapy. I have recommended acupuncture and Dr. Kim to anyone whom I know who has a similar condition, it's been a great discovery.

I came to Kim’s Pain Relief after a friend told me of this amazing acupuncturist. I had months of pain and limited use of my right arm and wasn’t sure what was going on with it, I was at a loss. I tried so many different things but nothing was relieving the pain. I was tired of taking pain med’s. After a few weeks of treatment With Jae Kwan Kim or as I call him “My Magical healer” I have almost no pain, great range of motion and a feeling of relief. He knows exactly what’s going on with my muscles, organs and any other area he knows that needs attention. He is compassionate and will do anything in his a power to heal and treat the pain. I’ve seen quite many chiropractors and I truly recommend Dr.Kim is one of the best you can find. I recently got MVA and Dr.Kim could pinpoint my knots and other issues within minutes! He gave me a very clear explanation throughout the treatment and my pain got so much improved right after. I am very excited that i've found this clinic!

I went to Dr Kim 3 years ago after triing Physio/chiro etc to help resolve my limited neck range of motion. He was able to completely resolve my issue in just a few treatments. Now 3 years later I came to see Dr Kim because my back pain was so severe I could hardly stand longer than 15 mins at a time. Within one treatment the pain had significantly reduced and now 5 treatments past and my pain is basically gone. Words will not adequately describe my experience. After suffering 4 compression fractures (spine) I spent months enduring excruciating pain 24/7. I went to my doctor. I went to endless chiro appointments etc and the pain continued to the point where I felt I was losing my life and became sad and depressed. Then a friend suggested acupuncture...and here I am -- only 5 appointments over a 2 week period and I am pain FREE and loving my life again. I am so grateful for Dr. Jae and his service. I’ve been suffered chronic pain, headache and concussion for 5 years since a car accident. Ive tried a lot of treatment but my recovery has been very slow. When my sister recommends Mr.Kim, I was reluctant to try an acupuncture but, now, I am a huge fan of Mr.Kim because of my condition is getting better and I am getting active.when I had a meeting with my family doctor, he said “you look so much better now. What’s happening?” And I told him that I am having acupuncture and he was delighted to see my recovery and encouraged me to continue acupuncture . In fact, Mr.Kim’s approaches for patient are different than western doctors who are usually focus on symptoms and give us lot of medication to patch up temporarily. Mr. Kim knows how to figure out the main reason for the symptoms and use needle or herbal medicine to cure the main source of the pain. I like his approaches very much and it is really reasonable and scientific. With the Mr. Kim’s successful treatment, my family doctor has decided to reduce dose of my depression medication.
