KEY-WAY-TIN BIBLE INSTITUTE CLOSES
As a ministry of the Northern Canada Evangelical Mission (NCEM) since 1973, the Key-Way-Tin Bible Institute (located at Lac La Biche, Alberta) served to train First Nations Christians for life and leadership.
In February 2013 it was decided that KBI could not continue as a Bible school. The decision was very difficult and was based on several factors, primarily staff shortage. (The School's full-time staff were NCEM missionaries, responsible for building their team of prayer/financial supporters -- so it was not a simple matter of hiring more staff.) The decision to close KBI certainly does not minimize NCEM's value for the discipling and training of First Nations believers.
With a strong family atmosphere at Key-Way-Tin, this decision was especially hard for students and staff members. Nevertheless, there has been an acceptance of God's sovereignty and anticipation of what the Lord will do in the future through each past student and staff member. (A number of the 2012-13 students transferred to other Bible schools which accepted their course credits.)
