He's friendly and knowledgeable, everything you want in a guide. His wife Kyt packs a fine lunch to boot.
Best of all you'll set out from his home base miles ahead of the crowd and not see another drift boat all day!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I enjoyed a wonderful day of fishing with Kenzie on the Cowichan River. This is a beautiful trout stream and he did an excellent job of guiding me down a good length of it by row boat.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went 2019/11/15 and saw a ton of fish. Kenzie is super easygoing and a pleasure to spend 7 hours with. We saw 9 bear and 4 or 5 other fishers. I have two suggestions. My brother and I are not fishers and had many nibbles but few on. If you're like us, when anchored, ask Kenzie to hook the fish and then play it yourself. The other suggestion is ask for two sandwiches (delicious) and more baking (also tasty). Thanks Kenzie.

Fishing with Kenzie felt like being on a Saturday morning fishing show. He taught my friend and I a lot about fly fishing, all the while enchanting us with stories about the local history and nature along the Cowichan River. I was also impressed by his ability to seamlessly adapt to our varying skill levels. My friend and I both caught several species of fish and had steady action throughout the entire day.
I especially appreciated Kenzie’s calm and patient nature, which reflected the peaceful environment of the Cowichan. I felt safe and taken care of as Kenzie commanded the river and carefully rowed us into the most productive fishing pools. This made it very easy and enjoyable to focus on learning about fly fishing and catching fish.
It was a dream come true to fish the Cowichan, and it was a truly memorable day thanks to Kenzie’s hard work. I can’t wait to go out with him again, and I am looking forward to another one of those delicious Canadian country-style sandwiches!
