About Johnson's Sewing Centre & Quilter's Dream
Johnson's Sewing has been serving Edmonton for 50 years!
In 1969 Ron and Doreen Johnson decided to open a sewing machine sales and service business and called it Johnson’s Sewing Machine Clinic, and it was located at 10736 124 Street in Edmonton, Alberta.
Johnson’s Sewing Machine Clinic sold and serviced all domestic and commercial sewing products for over 22 years. Customer Service was the selling point at Johnson’s and with top quality service, the sales of sewing machines grew very strong over that period.
September 1992 saw the sale and transition of Johnson’s to one of the company's valued employees. That was the year Linda St Pierre and husband Brad purchased the business from the Johnsons. Shortly after the purchase, the name was changed to Johnson’s Sewing Centre.
In 1994 A Quilters Dream was added providing the quilting population with an additional location to find a large selection of very high-quality fabrics and notions for their quilting projects. Quilter's Dream is celebrating 25 years this year!
Approximately 23 years ago a second 4400 square foot location was opened at 4359 99 Street in south Edmonton. While providing fabric and sewing products, service became a major focal point at the south Edmonton location.
In 2013 Craig St Pierre assumed the position of General Manager and in doing so has brought the business into the cyber era of online marketing and has continued with the essentials of providing quality customer service.
Today we are a multi-award winning dealer of Janome, Pfaff, Bernina, Q'nique and Juki domestic sewing products, and one of the largest suppliers of retail sewing products in Canada. Aside from our retail ventures, we are constantly looking for opportunities to help our market area with numerous charities such as Santa’s Anonymous, MS, Cancer and School fundraising drives and many others.
Johnson’s Sewing Centre is a 17-year winner of the Consumer Choice Award as voted on by the general public for top quality products and service in the Edmonton area!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ UPDATE: The owner reached out to me later in the day to apologize for what happened in the store. The manager had made him aware of the issue and he assured us he would be speaking with the employee. It was great to hear that we are valued as customers and that our business mattered to him.
It breaks my heart to post this as we normally get awesome service, with the exception of one employee. Today that employee crossed a line when on top of their usual rudeness they came at my mom. We had asked her numerous times for help and she made it very clear she didn’t have the time of day for us (she wasn’t helping anyone at the time). We opened a quilt kit that we assured her we were buying in order to find the info that she would not help us with. She ran over, tried to grab the kit out of my moms hands and started yelling for the manager. We were very taken aback as she came across very aggressive and had my mom in tears. Carmen the manager came and was very sweet and helpful, but my mom decided to buy the rest of her kit elsewhere. I was so upset that I put my items back despite the sale.

Service was really nice at the back, and Robby at the front was very considerate of my needs even though I had a very low budget. I didn't feel judged at all for needing something simple. Definitely come visit here, they have some beautiful machines and great customer service. :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Took me 30 minutes to find a parking stall. This was the 1st time in this store. I was running an errand for a disabled friend. I asked the lady at the till if she could help me and she hesitated as if it was odd that I was asking for help. There was no customers at the till and I reassured her if a customer came she could leave me and put the customer through the till. She then told me to put my mask on over my nose? Last I looked she was a sewing employee not my doctor. I asked her pleasantly to please stop talking to me about my health and I asked her if she was my doctor? She reassured me she wasn't. Then if looks could kill...the lady cutting the fabric was so unfriendly, very abrupt and miserable and I felt like I was imposing on her. There were many other fabrics I wanted cut but I wanted out of there asap. These employees should be told that not everyone that walks in there is a seamstress etc. And not everyone knows the basics about cutting fabric. Very unfriendly staff.

They phoned me and said it's non repairable and can't get the part it's to old, they said over the phone no need to come in and said we can recycle it and I said no I'm coming for it, I bring it home and was determined I'm not giving up on it. It works, also they didn't even clean it, shouldn't that be the first thing before a service, clean and oil it ,horrible very dishonest place!!! Shame shame

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just went here for the first time and I am very impressed. The store has impeccable cleanliness and it is easy to find what you’re looking for. I came in for a hemmer foot and invisible thread, and the lady at the sewing machine service area was so eager to help me choose the right foot for my machine. She explained things so clearly and even assisted in explaining to me the use of another product I was hesitant to buy (which I did not end up buying because I realized I would have no use, long-term). I was lucky enough to buy what I needed on the sale they had. Overall, I enjoyed my shopping experience.
Would love to come back again.
