Island Park Retirement Residence

I am truly impressed with Island Park Retirement Residence in Campbellford. My Mother-In-Law (82) moved in Dec 2018. She was a little apprehensive at first but quickly made new friends and re-connected with local acquaintances and got involved with all the facility has to offer. The staff are amazing, they treat everyone like part of a big family, remembering every resident by name and encourage involvement in all their events, functions and amenities. The chef is top notch so the food is exquisite, the building is maintained with superior quality, housekeeping staff are very thorough and their administrative staff are so detail orientated that the moving in process and day-to-day functions are seamless. I know my Mother-In-Law is being taken care of really good and SHE LOVES IT to boot!!! An all-round high class facility, totally recommend it. Tracey F.

Your staff is fantastic! I’m sure they are challenged at the door and have to wear their PR hat as part of their PPE. I would also like to thank them for making Christmas so special for the residents. My sister was really looking forward to the day at our house when the restrictions fell back into place once more, however, when explained to her, she understood and was ok with it. She was delighted with the Christmas menu and loves lobster! She told me a short time after she moved to Island Park just over a year ago, “I’ve never been happier than I am living here.” God bless you all. BT

Today, when I was chatting with my Mom (an Island Park resident), she said, "Deb, I really like it here - everyone is so nice!" Such a relief to hear words like this, and to know that she means it!! During our daily phone calls I hear about the staff - who go above and beyond to make all feel comfortable and valued, about her Bingo games and her trips out in the van to see the fall colours, or the latest travelling treat (those candy skewers were a definite favourite). Many thanks to Krista and Alexis who not only come up with varied activities but make sure to include all who are interested. From outside concerts, to arranging FaceTime visits with loved ones during a difficult travel time, they go out of their way to create a happy atmosphere. When needed, Patty and her health team are there to provide assistance and they have all helped my Mom out when she needed extra care. My sister and I comment often that we were extremely lucky that Cindy jumped into action when we needed a new living arrangement for our parents - she put all into place quickly and for that we will always be grateful. I remain appreciative that every phone call is answered with kindness and efficiency and any questions I may have are passed to the appropriate person - given that I do not live locally I say thanks to all those who answer my innumerable calls!! To be able to keep our parents in their beloved Campbellford was important both to us and to them and we feel the town is fortunate to have Island Park along the banks of the Trent.

I moved my Mother into Island Park 11 months ago from her home that she had lived in for 56 years. I knew it would be a tough move for her but after having a tour and meeting Cindy and some other staff members, I just knew we were making the right decision. The staff are amazing and so very thoughtful and helpful. The view from her river facing room is beautiful, boats in the summer and colourful trees in the fall. Lots of activities going on all the time with Krista and Alexis, who love the residents! With the new addition completed and enhanced facilities things can only get better!

Island Park Retirement Residence in Campbellford Ontario has been home for my parents for over 3 years. When it became obvious that my parents needed more care we were blessed that a suite opened just in time. Cindy McMurray worked her magic and they were home! I truly can’t say enough about the exceptional staff, each and everyone of them! The suites are private and beautiful! My parents have enjoyed the meals and all the varied activities . As my parents needed more care it was right there. My Dad recently moved to long term care and the staff has taken extra care of my Mom to make sure she is okay. Of course I have to mention the outstanding care provided during the ongoing pandemic. They have been able to pivot on a daily or weekly basis to keep Island Park a safe and happy oasis for the residents.

My husband and I have had several years now within the Retirement Home environments with our Mothers. Hands down Island Park in Campbellford is BY FAR above any previous experiences. Both of our mothers are happy and content under the circumstances of social distancing, periods of isolation etc. The staff has always attended to them and spent more than a passing moment with them. Both ladies have had no complaints about the food (and my Mother is hard to please at times). There is a great team there and I am so thankful to have them in our lives and appreciate everything they do. Never do my husband or I worry about our Mothers. We know they are well taken care of should they need any assistance.

Let me tell you now as loved ones and care givers of our beloved father, we were blessed one early spring mid-March day in 2015, when our dear 90 year-old Dad arrived at Island Park Retirement Residence for a short respite, in the beautiful town of Campbellford, Ontario. I’ve said enough already about what an island of paradise retirement might look like. Long story short — some five plus years later now, when our beloved Dad, now 96 years young, needs more care than could be provided for him, even at this place — we are so very grateful that he first walked through their doors in 2015. They were the best twilight years anyone could ever dream of. We are sorry that he cannot stay. There’s really little more to be said about everything I’ve said above. The place you’re looking for is called Island Park Retirement Residence, in Campbellford, Ontario. It’s genuinely a one-off for these kinds of places. Would not accept my 81 year old mother so beware .... they don’t want anyone who has cognitive issues !!! Although my mom has minimal memory issues still won’t take her . My mom is needs a place to live for the winter ... as she has been totally independent , living alone for 20 yrs !!!! But island park will not accept her. I was under the impression that ALL elderly would be welcome Here ...as it is an independent living situation with additional medical and personal help if needed. Which is NOT the case here . Really disappointed with the assessment with patty . All other staff were kind helpful and made mom feel like she was cared about ! Janice was amazing and am saddened we couldn’t get mom in to a safe environment. My mother will continue to live alone I guess .
