★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was smaller on the inside than I expected, but all isles were fully stocked with product. Yes, the checkout is extremely slow because it seems that staff are not familiar with the codes or system. I had 3 item that showed a price on display, but scanned different. The staff that are packing product are friendly and willing to help customers find product. There was a huge line at the meat department, but it was moving pretty fast. I was hoping to find a bigger selection of halal meat products fresh or frozen.
Compared to stores like BlueSky and Pacific that also have a designated Halal section and many Pakistani, Indian and Middle Eastern product (Asian & European), I am not sure how well Iqbal foods will do in Ajax. I won't be going back anytime soon, but I do wish them all of the best.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was very excited when this store opened up. Saved me a trip from going down to thorncliffe, every other weekend. Great store with lots of variety. Only downside is that there are only 5 cashier checkout stations. The place is a bit small, considering the demand and population of people that love shopping here. Wish they had a larger store so it would feel less cluttered.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have gotten my meat from several halal butcher shops in Durham but Iqbal Foods has had the best quality, and priced meat. In addition to their meat, it has been a one stop shop for me and all my family’s ethnic grocery needs since their opening. So happy it has opened up in Durham! Will definitely be going there weekly!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great selection of south Asian food. Biggest store in Durham region by far. Fresh meat. And a lot of crowds for the first week. Hopefully a lot of that will smooth out after the first couple of weeks.

✅Competitive prices.
✅Wide variety of Pakistani and Indian brands.
✅Lots of Ayurveda and organic products which would be a boon for health conscious people.
✅Great location, very close to Costco Ajax.
✅Fresh meat section where you can get custom cuts as per your preferences.
✅Very well stocked. Haven't come across my favourite products being, 'out of stock'.
✅Respectful staff members.
❌Still waiting on their loyalty card, similar to their other branches.
❌Meat section doesn't pack their fresh produce well, sometimes, which results in blood oozing onto your other groceries.
❌Parking can be really difficult to find during peak rush hours.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing! Found everything I needed. Freshest meat! Great produce and all kinds of halal products! Loads of freezers of products as well. I have been driving to the original location for many many years because nothing beats the selection at Iqbal foods! Authentic Indian and Pakistani brands. Go! They have things that are hard to find in any other stores. A very welcome addition to Ajax!!!! The store is spacious, aisles are big and well lit. They haven't officially opened yet but is open as they are training and stocking. Grand opening Friday February 25th!
Update: Had a chance to go back today and the shelves, vegetable section and freezers are all fully stocked! They have price checkers now posted as well. The meat section now has a ticket system with numbers being called for custom orders and no waiting for "as-is" cuts. Such a welcome addition to Ajax

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here knowing it’s a large branded halal grocery store… finally in Ajax!
The place was clean although sometimes aisles or areas can be crowded when they are restocking
Everyone there is extremely friendly. So that’s always nice.
Price wise - everything is just expensive! everything…. You can shop cheaper at the other local area grocery stores for veggies or common perishable food items.
So now only coming here for the halal meat - it’s still does get busy in the meat section at times but the wait goes quickly. Everything else not halal/specifically not Pakistani I haven’t bothered buying.
The meat is fresher compared to surrounding meat stores - they sell a lot so it’s constantly moving which is good.
They do have packed bags (probably 5lbs) for $50 of boneless thighs or breasts if you need to pick up in bulk of one kind.
Another unique aspect of this place is it sells a lot of authentic Pakistani branded products. So if you are looking for something unique from pakistan come here to take a quick check - prices like usual are expensive.
Overall a good experience. Glad there is a large store catering to the Muslim community. It can become a one stop shop since you are already there.
