ICS is a very good school for my kids. They went to a public school before going to ICS, but they were quite bored there. At ICS, they flourish. There are so many more things being taught and so many activities for them. French is taught starting from grade 2. Before the covid, grader 3 and grade 6 also had some computer classes taught by UBC students, in which they learned about creating a webiste and some simple game coding. In writing and reading classes, many strategies are taught. Each week, there are chess clubs, trivia clubs at lunch time and cross country running. The students will be taught by different teachers for each grade, and my kids have been taught by grader 3, 4, 6 and 7 teachers, and all of them are wonderful. The VSB teachers that they had were mostly good as well, but one thing that makes the big difference is that the VSB school assignments were not graded. At ICS, the teachers grade all the assignments and give the students feedback on what they can improve and they also have more tests. As a teacher (UBC professor) myself, I know how much value this is worth to the students' learning. If the assignments are not graded as the case in the VSB school, students don't have motivations to finish them, and they don't get individual help either. They love the sport teams and the PE classes. As the school is relatively small, it is quite easy to join the school teams. They get to compete with other schools and have exercises and extra open gym hours each week. The teachers and staff are all very friendly. The principal remembers every student's name and greet the parents all the time. Parents are quite involved in school activities, and each is expected to complete 40 hours of volunteering work. Overall, ICS gives me the feeling of a close community and good education quality. Although it is a Catholic school, non-religious and first national kids are welcome, and count for about 15% of the students. I also appreciate how they have handled the covid remote teaching and in-school hygiene and teaching. No covid exposures or cases at ICS in the past term. In summary, I highly recommend it to everyone!

We are so fortunate to be at this school. The principal has created a community feel and all of the staff and students feel it. From the moment we received a handwritten welcome card, we knew we had found home.
