The IG Empower Your Tomorrow program is our commitment to providing Canadians with the education and resources they need to feel confident about their finances. This program is what we believe will build strong communities across our country — communities like the Indigenous peoples of Canada who are at a particular disadvantage when it comes to financial literacy and education. We believe it’s crucial to ensure Indigenous peoples have equal opportunities to improve their financial confidence as all Canadians.
IG has been providing significant community support for Indigenous peoples through various local and national community partnerships and initiatives for years. IG is now formally announcing the launch of the IG Empower Your Tomorrow Indigenous Commitment, that will support the financial confidence of Indigenous peoples with $5 million in funding over five years as part of a national strategy.
This commitment includes a new partnership with Prosper Canada[CK1] , a national charity that works with a network of organizations to develop policies and provide resources that help promote financial empowerment, to develop, pilot and embed culturally appropriate financial empowerment supports. These resources will include access to identification, tax filing, money management and RESP workshops and through a train-the-trainer approach, this work will also include a capacity building element for Indigenous communities that will benefit future generations.
