★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I used Icon Kitchens to do a significant amount of cabinetry in my home (probably over 60k). I asked for a water-based paint as I wanted a green choice. At first the work looked great but within a year, the paint started to peel and chip. I contacted them and they contacted the paint provider. The paint provider said that there were way too many layers of paint caked on the cabinetry but said my contact there said he would supply a new, better paint for free and Icon said they would fix the affected cabinets. Now 3 years later, Almost half of my cabinetry is peeling and/or dented. When I tried to contact Icon to PAY them to fix the problem, at least 6-7 times, they haven't returned my calls. Out of desperation, I contacted the paint company to find out what colour paint was used so I could hire another company to fix the cabinetry. To my surprise, my contact there told me that Icon never used their new upgraded paint even though they said they would provide for free. They used a cheaper, less durable paint. I now have to redo most of my cabinetry. This is obviously a significant cost and also, a significant inconvenience (this will be the third time I have to get may kitchen done in 5 years!) and I am disheartened by ICON"s refusal to take ownership for their work. It's okay to make mistakes, but I expect businesses to stand by their work. I would definitely not recommend ICON to anyone for anything at this point.
