★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had heard good things about Hutcheson, but sadly I can't vouch for them as a customer because they don't cater to ordinary residential consumers. I need crushed granite for driveway repairs. Their price is $1 higher for a metric tonne than a competitors' price I was recently charged for the 10% larger ton, but the real kicker: a minimum charge of $36! I (and many home owners) have a one-ton trailer, so I'd have to pay more than twice the price. I was offered $26/tonne if I loaded it myself with a shovel - seriously?! I guess their business model of choice is B2B not B2C.

Their products are exceptional; pricing is reasonable; their office staff are friendly and informed; sales staff are professional, reasonable and informed; and, they cooperate in creating budget efficiencies. This is an exemplary business.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm a fan of gravel pits I love the concept of just taking some of the ground, processing it into something more manageable, and distributing it. Hutcheson can take solid granite and turn it into slabs for tables or stairs or things like that. Or they can grind it up into all sorts of sizes and separate them into chunks of combine the chunks with fine crush to make roads.
And they can dig up and and sort it by shape and size and use it for beach volleyball or just to fill a lot or a basement.
Big machines, big trucks, weight scales in tonnes, and all sorts of other big stuff.
