The trail head besides a busy highway is a bit underwhelming. But a short walk into the trail leads to a beautiful board walk along the shore. It worths the visit.

A short but lovely trail, it is perfect for walking. A round trip takes less than 30 mins. However the noise from the nearby traffic lane is very loud.

Great trail for walking and cycling along the waterside. Part of the trail is floating and its fun and to enjoy the beauty.

Cute little boardwalk/trail that’s about or less than 30 mins long. There’s two sides to it. On the left, there’s a really short boardwalk that runs along the highway but because it’s so close to the highway it kind of hurt my ears. I prefer the right side of the trail on the other side of the river that’s quieter. There’s a boardwalk that you can dive off of and if you go further down it turns into a short hiking trail with orchards (?) and plenty of benches along the way to enjoy the view

We started at the access point at East Airport Road. The parking is at the end of the road near the trail sign and there's plenty of parking. We first went down the new extension which is to the left of Orchard Park. It's 30 minute round trip if your walking at a normal pace/stopping for pictures. It's a relatively flat trail to walk if you have bad knees, or are looking for something beginner friendly. The trail is wide and is wheelchair accessible. There is a large incline at the end of the route at Lakeshore Road but you can just turn back at the end of the board walk (the end of the trail is at the top of the hill so you aren't missing any of the trail). There are several benches on the floating dock so there are a lot of places to rest or just take in the view. The floating dock seems very secure but does wobble a bit which you get used as you walk but can be a little nerve racking at first. Highway 11 is right beside this trail but it didn't both us that much, we knew it was there so we weren't expecting a "peaceful nature" walk. The noise wasn't overly intrusive, we were still able to have regular volumed conversation. If you're from a larger city, it probably won't bother you. This trail wasn't that busy, we only passed a couple of people. After we returned we went to Orchard Park, which can be seen from where we parked. There is a porta potty, picnic tables and garbage cans at the park. The park connects to the existing Hunter's Bay Trail that goes down to Center Street. We walked this trail for about 15 minutes to compare. This trail has more inclines (some of which are steep) so not great for bad knees and not as easy of a walk for beginners. However, this route does have benches along the way so you can rest. The trail is also more narrow and it's a busier trail than the new extension so we passed a lot more people. While there are no stairs, since the pathways are narrow and the inclines are steep, I would say it would be more challenging for wheelchair users than the new extension. Both directions are great; they offer different experiences. Today, we preferred the new extension (the portion close to the highway). We were just looking for an easy, calm walk by the lake. We enjoyed that it wasn't too busy because it just felt like we had the trail all to ourselves.
