I will absolutely be doing this hike again! There's a great blend of walking, going uphill, a bit of rock climbing (if you want) views of the lake high up as well as within touch (or for a swim). The trail is decently marked, but could be confusing from some. There are a lot of rocks and roots along the path, and a few areas where you might need to navigate around a puddle if it's been wet. Personally, I love the uneven nature of the trail as it's fun to run and jump around on! Only run on this trail if you are nimble, as a fall could easily result in a gash from a sharp rock. Best hike I've done in MB!

Hiked the Hunt Lake Trail a couple of days ago with my 2 oldest. Amazing hike. Definitely the most difficult Provincial Park trail I've been on. On the way in, it took us about 2 hours and 40 minutes. That was with a number of breaks to admire some scenery, take some pics, or have a snack. It took us 2 hours coming back. Next to no stops. There are areas with high rock walls you can climb, and even crawl into a tiny cave. And large trees, seemingly growing straight out of the rock walls themselves. It's pretty cool. There is much beauty along the trail, although the trail end is pretty anti-climactic. It ends at Little Indian Bay and there is just a small shelter. That's fine though, as we all still felt a sense of accomplishment. On a warmer day, I would have gone for a dip to cool off. And being the deepest lake in the province, the water is cold! The path itself is very rocky. Sharp rocks jutting out of the trail all along. Indeed, some areas you have to use your hands to climb up the rocks because it is so steep. If you fall anywhere on the trail, you will most likely hurt yourself. Where there aren't rocks, you will contend with large roots that can be tripping hazards as well. So, bring decent footwear, a first aid kit, a good lunch, and lots of water. I went through 1.5 liters of water, and it was a cool day. I also brought an extra shirt, as mine always gets quite sweaty when I wear a back pack. Unless you have a disability that would make walking difficult, I think anyone could do this hike. As is often the case, it has more to do with your will, than how in (or not in) shape you are. Just take your time, and tread carefully. Afterwards we went to the Hi-Ball restaurant for food and drinks. Unfortunately, we couldn't sit on the patio, so we just ordered food to go. Food was decent. If you decide to give it a go, I hope you have as positive an experience as we did. ✌

If I could make one suggestion for Hunt lake hiking trail, post a sign that warns people to get a parking pass in order to go hiking on your trail. I went this weekend for my first time with friends and we got back to our vehicle finding a $60 parking fine. Not cool for our first time there. If we had known, we totally would have bought the pass, but nothing warns or says you require one to park in that area. Please post signs be fair to people that would gladly pay the price if given warning. As for the trail it was everything about it that we enjoyed, from the views to the peace and quiet of the water and woods. I would gladly go back to these trails and go hiking all around west hawk lake. Thank you for the experience.

Very technical, a very good workout, and often quite quiet. One of my favourite hiking spots.

Believe Alltrails, this is definitely a challenge but worth it! Lots of rocks, roots, small climbs, and great views. Trail is well marked and fun for an out and back trail. Easy to locate, and worth the drive.

Nothing for unexperienced hikers, that's for sure! First of all I am amazed about this part of God's nature and the beautiful view and scenery! Walking in the woods and holding unto rocks, roots and branches to get forward on the trail is a another story! It was worth the effort, though! Come and try it out yourself, oh and bring time with you! No kidding, we (group of 10, with mixed expierence) stopped in approximately 5 min in the woods to take the first couple pictures! And on and on it went while we were trying to go further. And now the total of 6 hours for the hike makes more sense! It is not the distance or the extreme hike you have to overcome, you just stop in awe of the scenery before you! You want to capture what you see and like to share it with the world! There is just so much to see... and if we are all honest, those of us who like to take pictures to share it with family and friends far away, a picture or video can never properly share what you have seen it this very moment. But it motivates me to go to another adventure! Try it out, is all I say and enjoy it ?

The trail is rated as hard. It definitely has its challenges. 1. Muddy after rain. 2. Some climbing and descending areas that require sure footing. Bring solid supportive shoes and lots of water. Snacks too of course. The sights we saw weren’t worth the effort of the hike. There are no grand overlooks that are breath taking. However the trail itself is nice & a good work out.

Beautiful hike! Quite technical, especially in early spring conditions as there is still quite a bit of snow and ice on most ofbthe trail, making the ascents and descents quite tricky at times! Other than that beautiful scenery the whole time with lots of visible trail markers
