★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great arena, with lots of programs for all ages, including hockey and figure skating.
Our daughter had never skated before this year, but the figure skating teachers did an amazing job getting her up to speed. The ice is mostly well maintained, and facilities are pretty good, especially for a town this size.
The concession also serves pretty decent and affordable me food — a huge benefit given the lack of opportunities to eat out in town. The team are always helpful, and friendly.
My only complaint would be that the skating season is a little short, and even with plans to extend it and get the ice frozen a little earlier, thanks to a new condenser, the arena will still be closed in the summer, unlike some arenas in nearby cities, meaning people who want to keep their skills honed during the summer months will need to travel to Fort St. John to do so. This obviously means hockey teams or figure skaters in these towns have a bit of an advantage, as they can train year round.
