Holiday Inn Express Vancouver-Metrotown (Burnaby), an IHG Hotel

Stayed 4 nights recently and while there are some great aspects to the hotel, the proximity to the SkyTrain station at Meteotown creates a lot of noise. Rooms and hotel are in the process of being renovated and my room seems partly done with the bedroom area done, but without lights and the washroom doesn't seem done compared to other Holiday Inns I've stayed at recently. Room was super clean on arrival, check in desk very friendly, and the breakfast buffet well run with great bacon! As noted, there are no bedside lights on my room, but there are holes drilled on the headboard so I'm assuming they are waiting for supply of lights. Additionally the room doesn't have the new style of roll down blind that fully blocks out the light, but still old drapes that leave a gap for light to come through. Biggest issue is the room facing to Central Blvd and the SkyTrain station. The trains run until 11ish and then start again at 4.30am, being loud enough to wake me. I'm generally not a light sleeper and it's not usual for city noise to wake me. Overall I liked the hotel but not the location. Not sure if a room that didn't face the train station would make a difference.

0 out of 5 stars! My sister and her boyfriend came to see us at our room and front desk asked what room they were heading to. They called up to our room and said no visitors, if we want to visit we can go to the breakfast bar and visit on the 2nd floor. Never heard of a hotel where you can’t have visitors. Would not recommend at all. I’m 7 months pregnant with a 3 year old. Do you think I can pack everything up to go visit around? I am Indigenous and felt racially profiled. Not only are you singling myself and my family out but you are putting our health and well being at risk for making us visit in a public area during a pandemic when I am 7 months pregnant. My sister and her boyfriend had their own place to stay while in Vancouver so they definitely weren’t coming to stay with us. I have left reviews on all platforms and I made a TT with 13K views and 300 comments from people who agree with me. What your staff did was not okay.

This is one of the best hotels I've stayed at for the value! The breakfast is great - huge selection. The staff are extremely friendly and give personalized service. I loved the small, but very well appointed gym. Can't say enough good things about this hotel.

This hotel has the most professional and accommodating staff. Perfect location close to all amenities and transportation. Great security, fantastic breakfast. The room was immaculate with all incidentals available. Bed was comfy and the room temperature was comfortable. Parking was complimentary underground. We will definately be back for another enjoyable visit to Vancouver. Thank you so much.

The location is perfect for shopping at MetroTown Mall, with the Skytrain right across the street, lots of Transit Busses next door at MetroTown Mall. The hotel has secure access on the 2nd floor for entering the MetroTown Mall. Starbucks coffee right below/beside the hotel. The staff greet and welcome you warmly and check in is quick and easy. I cannot say enough about all of the staff members, they are all so welcoming and helpful! The room was roomy and very clean feeling. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were very comfortable, which one doesn't always find in hotels. The bathroom was very clean, nice and big with a very large vanity. The shower head was very nice and there were no issues with the water constantly changing from hot to cold as some hotels have. The housekeeping staff are friendly and courteous. If you don't want your room cleaned daily, just leave the sign on the outside of your door. They will bring you clean towels etc. if you request. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've experience for a hotel buffet - lots of great choices - and the coffee was great! The staff in the buffet were excellent in welcoming their guests and providing help if needed. My stay was to visit my kids, so I didn't have time to see what the pool or fitness room was like. This was my 2nd time staying at this hotel and I will stay again when visiting my kids. I cannot stress enough on the location of this restaurant. Behind the MetroTown Mall is Kingsway St. and it has lots of great restaurants to visit and inside the Mall there is the big Food Court with a great variety of fast food choices. The Skytrain is across the street and it's just a 30 to 40 minute ride to Canada Place in Vancouver. The hotel has underground parking which is secured as well.

We found the staff to be very rude and unaccommodating. The hotel was under construction so there was noise starting in the early morning and lasting all day and we still paid a premium price. They did not seem to be found of kids in their hotel as they were not even allowed to walk through the halls without supervision (may I add that the kids I am referring to are 10 years old). I have stayed at many Holiday Inn hotels, but this one was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I will not stay there again nor would I recommend it to anyone I know

The staff here are amazing . Both Scott and Monica went above beyond to make our stay great. From accommodating an early arrival to finding my daughter a quiet place to write her exam. They gave us maps and tips on places to go see. Great rooms, and breakfast.

I stayed here again with my dad and the service was beyond 5-stars! Not only did they remember that I was here in September 2021, but I also received a thank you card for staying! Monica and the other staff went above and beyond! There's really nothing to complain. There is construction on the 4th floor, but we couldn't hear anything! Really excited to see how the renovated rooms will look like. This hotel is definitely my go-to place to stay whenever I visit Vancouver :)
