Historic Dewdney Pub and Liquor Store

We really do wish our first experience could have been much better. We got there at 6 p.m. hoping to have the pasta special, while playing some Keno. We walked in to see only one server in the whole establishment, a large table of 15 people right smack-dab in middle of the floor. We immediately knew Keno was not going to be an option. There was a pool table room to the left, full of people, so we found a table around the corner to the right of the entry door, an area not very inviting. There was 0 lighting in that room & it was somewhat dark & uninviting Server said in passing, "It's going to be a long wait until I get to u because I'm the only one here working" We sat & waited...& waited. 15 minutes later she made her way to our table to take our drink order. We waited another 15 min for her to come back with our drinks. I'd asked for clamatoe juice, which she forgot. While waiting for another 10+ min for her to bring it, I had to stop her & remind her. She seemed stressed. Finally she comes with clamatoe, & takes our order. We both order the special, but cannot have it because it's sold out!! *sigh* So we have to order something else. Husband ordered a burger & I ordered super beef dip. Another LONG wait.... 26 min to be exact. & my beef dip meat is COLD like it just came out of the fridge & there is no cheese or mushroons! Uggg. When server finally came back to ask how our meals were (husband had already finished 3/4 of his burger & I stopped eating mine because it was gross...she offered to bring it back & have it reheated. I declined because I wasn't going to wait another 20+ minutes for anything at that point. We were there a total of 2 hrs & not once asked if we wanted another beer or anything. I get she was swamped & I appreciate the effort she made getting to everyone in the establishment & we do NOT blame her at all. But when u have over 30 ppl in a food serving bar & customers spread out all over the floor & only 1 person to take orders, serve orders, tend bar, cash tend ect... that is not right. Not fair to her & not fair to the customers who are paying for a meal & in our case to come out & enjoy evening with a few drinks & Keno. (which we were unable to do because she was all over the place + there is only one Keno screen TV which was in the room the party was in) & YES we still gave the girl a tip. She was working hard & deserved It, even if I was not happy with our particular service. On a positive....they have Keno, pulltabs, pool table, open mic night, kereoke, live bands, dancing & it can also be used as a wedding venue outside. Oh and my husband's burger was HUGE & he enjoyed it. Fries were also seasoned nicely. We will for sure give this place another try. A recommendation would be to put keno screens in EACH room so all customers can see. We would have stayed a few extra hours if that had been the case.

Awesome wings! Best I've ever had actually...amazing dry ribs too and calamari was delish.

Rustic old church now a Pub! Casual comfort, good pub menu, prices & service. Pool & darts. Always a pleasure to hang & enjoy with friends

We absolutely loved eating at Historic Dewdney Trunk. The server was very friendly and the food was delicious ? The Yorkshire pudding was very dry and the served made a mistake on our bill. We loved seeing the horses and look forward to coming back again soon. Great pub we recommend coming here.

Loved the Sunday afternoon Church of Blues - so much talent. Such little time to enjoy it all!

Hot beer, lousy food, bad service. Patio smells like manure. I feel at home here. Get the gourmet beef dip.

The setting, location and scenery are beautiful! They seem short staffed constantly. But servers are friendly and food is good, as long as you don't mind waiting a while for your food. ..

UPDATE: (3/23/2022) We now drive from Bellingham WA to get our "fix" at Dewdney Pub, even with the Covid hoops we have to jump through!! It's ALWAYS terrific service (thank you again Steph.) and the best wings / Shrimp Basket this side of "The Shrimp Shack" in Washington State!! The local fellows are always accommodating, and they allow us to sit at the long table whilst they discuss "world politics" :-) Always entertaining indeed! (4/18/2020) we ordered take out from the Dewdney Pub. Due to the Covid 19 closures we would have normally enjoyed spending time on the back patio during this lovely sunny day but unfortunately that was not an option. Our food was TREMENDOUS, as it always has been! We drive in from Chilliwack to get our Dewdney "fix", more than worth the effort! Support Dewdney any way you can PLEASE! I am for one certain that I want "The Church of the Blues" to weather this storm and come out stronger in the end!
