Wonderful doctors, I love the entire medical team here. But the reception team is truly horrendous. They are so rude. They never answer the phone, and if I try to get through via email (through the address they used to contact me once) I get lambasted that it's not their job to reply to emails. It's so difficult to just get basic service from the reception staff and it makes me dread going to the doctor.

The Doctors at this office are good. In the 15 years of going here I have routinely felt like I was ruining the receptionists days by showing up for my appointment, and have never been welcomed with anything more than a glance up over the counter. The receptionist must feel that they work at the BCCDC, or are working for Dr. Bonnie Henry, as it seems they let the phones sit on hold for 15mins+. All in all, never a good experience.

It is extremely difficult to talk to a human at this office. Twice in the last three weeks they have failed to forward requisitions to the lab when they said they would causing me to go to the lab on the scheduled day only to be turned away. My interactions with the doctors at Highroads have been good, but the office management is very very poor and extremely frustrating. Given my experience I would recommend going elsewhere.

Edit to update my previous review: My wife has now been on hold on the phone waiting to talk to someone, anyone, at the clinic for over thirty-five minutes. Her call went straight to hold. She initiated the call between 11am and noon as their answering machine claims this is the best time to call because they have such a "high volume" of calls. Yet every time I have been in the waiting room of this clinic, the receptionist has not been very busy at all answering calls, so this so-called "high volume" of calls claim is really suspect. So clearly this clinic still has some really systemic problems with its reception staff. Totally unacceptable. There is no alternate way of contacting our doctor, other than this problematic phone system. We are now talking about switching doctors because of this, even though it is tough to find a doctor in Vancouver. Original review: The receptionists at this clinic are extremely brusque and downright rude. If you try to call to make an appointment, expect to wait a minimum of twenty minutes on hold, and once you talk to someone, they will not answer your questions without giving you extreme attitude. Why an office continues to employ receptionists with such horrible people skills is beyond me. I don't understand why any doctor would want to be represented by such rude employees.

Medical care is top rate, but to echo the other comments about the phone system, it is abysmal. It is generally 30 minutes minimum to get through on the phone, and lately I've been calling to chase down prescriptions or requisitions that were supposed to have been sent. I dread when I have to call there for any reason. I have tested my theory that they aren't actually on the phone at all. I have been in an empty waiting room awaiting my appointment and have called the number. No one is on the phone. They are talking to each other. No one ever picks up. I feel this is definitely a problem that needs to be addressed.

I have moved around a fair bit and it is safe to say that I have never had such professional and personalized care as I get from the team at Highroads. It can be hard to make it through the phone lines at times, but the staff are so helpful and hard-working that they always find a solution. Dr. Tang is above-and-beyond an excellent doctor. I have so much confidence in his skill and care, and I count myself lucky that we landed in his patient load.

I have just been "on telephone hold" at this Clinic waiting to make an appointment to see in person my GP of nearly thirty years. Eventually I spoke to a receptionist who offered me only a telephone appointment in three weeks time ! The service offered by Highroads is abysmal. I am married to a physician and know the burdens that are currently being imposed upon GPs. But one does get the impression that the Covid-19 pandemic is allowing physicians a "get out", to offer really a rather sloppy service. And medical offices exist to provide a service like any other. A very poor show!

No place is perfect but this place does try its best. I have been a patient of Dr Bootsman for many years and have been blown away by the amazing and caring medical care I have received from her. Do you have to wait on hold to get someone? Well, yes, welcome to our strained medical system...just remember next time you go to vote to check which party is providing MORE money to our medical services. I have been incredibly happy with this clinic and am so very grateful I have a family doctor when there is such a shortage of them currently.
