After a not at at fault accident, HH/Wawanesa failed to obtain available footage of the accident, waiting months to follow up with the footage owner who by then had erased it, even after me telling them that they only had 2 weeks to obtain before erasure. Thus the 'lack of witnesses' resulted in my policy being held 50% liable for an old woman driving directly into my side door at a tollbooth. Complete incompetence by both Helen Hunley's broker AND Wawanesa Insurance, which I will be paying for at least 6 years - and THOUSANDS of dollars, on a car worth only 3K.
Then, allowed my policy to lapse without notifying me until AFTER it was cancelled. I was driving without insurance unknowingly for more than a week.
Resulted a 'gap' in insurance and needing the policy to be re-underwritten and costing me an extra $400/yr compared to the $700 if renewed on time.
What is a broker for if not to contact their clients when something looks off (for example, allowing a policy to lapse after 17+ years of insuring that vehicle with that very broker)?
Incredibly disappointing and will affect my premiums for years.
