About Hand & Upper Limb Clinic
We consistently strive to provide the best treatment possible for our clients, and pride ourselves in having a team of highly skilled therapists dedicated to working ‘hand-in-hand’ with their clients towards recovery. Following an initial assessment, patients work one-on-one with their therapist to develop a personalized treatment plan, and to monitor and track their recovery progress.
Our clinic is comprised of several private therapy, splinting, and wound care rooms as well as two large, shared work spaces (our main floor space and our advanced shoulder room). If you speak to our past or present clients, you just might hear about how the positive, inspiring atmosphere in these communal work spaces makes our clinic a unique and uplifting place for rehabilitation work.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great services, products, staff and community. The shared space is designed well to facilitate a positive healing space. I have to pay out of pocket (many other though have their insurance/WSIB cover the bills) but it's not expensive and it's well worth it as I am recovering quickly both physically and mentally (in terms of confidence). While I absolutely love the brace I purchased from them and I would not mind wearing it for the rest of my career they are adamant that I'll be able to work without it soon and are pushing me to do so (so I don't baby my injury). If you are struggling with something that physio can help with, HULC is a great choice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been to this clinic for 4 different matters. I had trigger finger syndrome twice, (different fingers) I had carpel tunnel, I had a sore elbow and lastly shoulder problems. Every problem was cured, without any surgeries of any kind. Matt and all his staff have always been the very best I could ever ask for. They are caring and attentive and so very professional . I recommend them wholeheartedly.

I had a problem that, by the time I could get an appointment with a doctor (sad state of affairs for our medical system), my condition required surgery. It was worsening as I waited for surgery and a friend suggested I see Matt Shaw. I knew that I would require therapy after the surgery, but I hadn't considered going before. I call the HULC to make an appointment and although they had no available appoints until the following week -- I explained my situation and they fit me in. The therapy was helpful in relieving some of the pain and calming things down prior to the surgery. Post surgery they were also great -- helpful, professional, and emphatic! I had a question between visits so I called. The therapist called me back 15 minutes later and took time answering my question. I will be out of the country and still needing some therapy. Matt found another hand specialist in the town where I will be. He is contacting her and sending me with all the information that she needs to pick up where he left off. Everyone was wonderful -- from the receptionist, to the young woman that did the therapy, to the therapist himself! We are very lucky to have such a clinic in Thunder Bay.
