About Grace Hill Farms Ltd
Our farming journey may have begun sooner than in 1912, but our recorded history goes back to that year at Vulcan, Alberta. Donald Smith, my grandfather, began our traditions of leaving the land in better condition than we found it. My dad, Russel Smith continued with the legacy in the 1960’s, and in the 1980’s, he passed the stewardship to me and my wife, Doreen.
Organic farming is about verifying the integrity of the products that we grow. We have been third-party certified organic since 1987. As part of the organic standards that we grow by, our farming operation is inspected annually by a third-party certifying body to verify compliance to the organic standards. The standards are administered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
Our family has been farming for over 100 years. To continue farming, we not only recognize the importance of stewarding the land that we live on but also raising the family that we have been blessed with. We have four children including three sons who we hope will become the next generation of growers on Grace Hill Farms and carry on the Smith family farming tradition. We want to grow our farm, and we want to see our family grow and continue for another 100 years.
