Glenn Millar General Contractors

I actually hired Eastern Restoration & Masonry Contractors Ltd. but they worked under Glenn Millar General Contractors. Eastern was hired to restore an existing walkout to the basement, put in a sidewalk against the house leading to the walkout and put in two new windows in the basement cinder block walls. We knew nothing about the building code requirements and thought the professional contractors would help us out. We were wrong. The woman at Eastern knew nothing about the building code requirements, she was annoying to deal with and kept sending tons of poorly written emails. The two windows that were installed needed to be redone because the lintels were off centre and there was no vapour barrier or flashing installed. Mr. Glenn Millar did ensure that the window work was redone after I complained and that I was satisfied in the end. (I made sure I learned all the building code requirements for the rework.) The contractors who dug the walkout had to redo the digging and they didn't clean up the area very well after the job was finished. They actually left behind a broken ladder and cement mixer and a few other horrid looking tools that we tried to get Eastern to pickup for several weeks after completing the job. We ended up having to bring these to the dump ourselves. The new retaining wall was well done and the repair to the drain in the walkout was good too. However, the poured concrete steps did not look very square and the rises weren't identical for each step. That, I didn't complain about and just let it go, so Mr. Millar did not get a chance to have it re-done. I just wanted them out of there. For the price we paid, we don't feel we got very good value. While Glenn Millar seemed to be pretty good, the sub-contractors he uses are not all good or very professional.
