Delicious authentic Ethiopian with hearty portions. I could tell that the chef takes pride in their cooking—we came on a not too busy day a few months prior and the chef personally came to ask how it was. Service overall was also fantastic. The coffee I would definitely recommend. It may seem on the expensive side, though definitely worth the experience. They roast the coffee for you fresh and bring it to give you a whiff of the aromas before proceeding to brew it. Coffee was great, and side of sugared popcorn compliments it well.

The food here is delicious. Generous portions at a great price. Very authentic (as far as I can tell). Really enjoyed the coffee ceremony after the meal, which is made with beans roasted and ground in small batches at the restaurant and served alongside burning incense. A very sensory experience.

Wow this was sooo good! Portions are MASSIVE I ordered the veggie platter and one meat dish, there was enough for 2-3 people for sure. Way too much for me! I love the flavours the veggie platter was probably good by itself, I was not lacking whatsoever and didn't need the extra. It is a really good mix of curries and veggies all delicious and buttery and spicy and creamy .... I will definitely be back!

Ordered the meat and veggie combo as well as the coffee ceremony. It was enough for 3 people plus some leftovers. Really tasty array of food with plenty of injera on the side. The spices in each dish were PERFECT and it was fun to try so many different flavours all on one plate. I liked that we could eat with our hands or with a plate/spoon. The coffee was excellent, very strong, chocolatey, and aromatic. I will be back!

We are not new to Ethiopean food and have always thoroughly enjoyed the amazing flavours. We decided to give Geez a try after reading the great reviews. Unfortunately we were very disappointed as the meat and veg platter was inundated with a ridiculous amount of raw jalapeños which ruined all the subtler flavours. No one in our party of 4 was able to enjoy the meal as our mouths were burning after the first few bites. We shared our feedback with our server (who never warned us or gave us an option to not have jalapenos) but not sure they cared. If you want to try authentic ethiopean food, imo there are way better Ethiopean restaurants in Calgary.

I had a good experience here. -The restaurant’s interior/layout left a lot to be desired. It’s forgettable, bland and could use a renovation to be more inviting. -The server seemed bored but was very knowledgeable and polite. She wasn’t overly warm or talkative but by no means tainted my experience. - I ordered the vegetarian platter and I loved most of it! The beet side dish, and the carrot side dish were my favourites. Everything was fresh and seasoned wonderfully. - I also ordered the Shiro which I didn’t like. It was overpriced for the amount of food that came (one small bowl for $18). The combination of flavours didn’t appeal to me at all so I left it untouched. I assume that is a personal preference and not a mistake in preparation.

First time trying Real Ethiopian food! Was very impressed by the amazing flavours with the meat and veggie combo platter I got! The owner Kiki did an amazing job hosting me tonight, was very happy with my decision going in. Must try in Calgary if you are craving some amazing real home cooked food!
