Ron and Mary MacLean

Pastor Ron and and his wife Mary MacLean have been leading Gateway Church for over 40 years. Ron had moved to Winnipeg in the Fall of 1979 to lead the congregation but returned to Vancouver where he married Mary on January 13.

After their honeymoon, the newlyweds returned to Winnipeg Feb 2, 1980 to continue pastoring the small church of sixty people and have been based here ever since. 

Their self-sacrificing and wholehearted commitment to the small and fragile congregation provided some much-needed stability and God has blessed their ongoing ministry in many different ways. The church now has over 600 people meeting in two locations every Sunday. Also, Ron and Mary led the team that pioneered The King’s School and Pastor Ron become the first principal. The King’s School continues to be Gateway’s largest ministry with over 300 students and 40 full time staff. It is now a fully operational Preschool to Grade 12 School that has served and blessed many thousands of children and families over the last 37 years.

So many lives have been touched, churches birthed and strengthened, communities and even nations impacted over the years. All because a young newly married couple chose to say “yes” to Jesus and remained faithful and true to that commitment for over 40 years, through all the joys and challenges along the way. We are so grateful they did.
