We typically utilize Pearks arena for its kinder-gym. I bring my 1&2 year old. Its probably our least favorite of the 3 Saanich kindergyms, however we do love the brand new bouncy castle that they have. Other then that the other equipment they have for the kids is just o.k. Their circle time is very unentertaining, we typically leave around this time. They sit in a circle and sing the same songs as always. Fun. Nothing compared to the interactive parachute circle times at the other kinder-gyms. The lady’s at the reception desk will literally lean over their desk and yell at you if you dare walk by them without paying to get into the kindergym, it’s a very un friendly feeling. I’m used to going right into the kinder gyms and being welcomed by the nice lady’s who stamp my pass at the door. Not used to showing up -to pearks kinder-gym to find out the entire area isn’t even set up, its 5 mins past the opening time and feeling attacked like I was trying to save myself from paying the $3 it cost for a 45 min session. Other then that The recreation center is extremely outdated- in fact I don’t think they have had any work done to the facility (besides building the library) since I’ve come here 20 years ago as a child. The floors are still the same and the bathrooms smell terrible, probably again because the squishy type material floors haven’t been changed in 20 years. I had a lot of great memories at Pearks Arena as a child skating here. However it’s gone down hill a lot and I think I’ll be signing my kids up at oak bay.

We came here for a Star Wars birthday party. It was $175 (with tax), which is a considerable amount of money considering that renting a room alone at other rec centers is around $50. They said they were going to make light sabers with the kids, which sounded fun, and that the would provide some decorations. What they meant by "we will build light sabers" is that the "party leader" would put a sticker on a long balloon and give one to each kid. Needless to say this didn't keep the kids occupied for very long and we would have preferred that the activity actually involved having the kids do something too. The decorations they provided were plain white balloons that they coloured to make it look like storm troopers. The colouring was good but the Sharpee rubbed off. There was also colouring papers for the kids to colour Star Wars things, if they wanted. Really what happened is that the party leader didn't do much and the kids just ran around for 1.5 hours. My son had fun but that is a low standard to meet whenever there is cake and friends involved. Anyway, it's a nice facility but the themed parties are very overpriced.

On my second trip to this gym I had a very poor experience with one of the trainers. I tried to bring it forward to management there (not even sure there is any at this point) and got absolutely no response. I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone. You risk being ridiculed by the staff in the gym. Very unprofessional and thoughtless.

Did a kids birthday party here. Skate then room rental. Room was ok, had to supply our own entertainment as room was pretty bare. I've played indoor soccer in the indoor courts and I do like the surface over hardwood flooring. Not enough ev parking tho.

Friendly staff, The gym is a little small but mostly empty ; Plenty of lockers and it's clean. It's great if you live around the area but not worth a long trip. It's $3 at certain hours, Usually at 1pm till 3:30pm.

I went there to see a rummage sale for children. There was a ramp from one level to the other which allowed us to use our stroller without difficulty. The bathrooms seem to be clean. There is a concession stand. I did not explore the facility at length but there are various meeting rooms and an ice rink. There is a lot of parking and the facility seems to be fully wheelchair accessible.

Great facility with wonderful programs. Honestly the best rec centre in the island. Loved the recent Roller Disco event here (hoping for more) and the public and Christmas ice skating. I don't play pickle ball, but I have a few friends who do and they love the drop ins here. Really friendly and helpful staff. So many options for fun and fitness.
