It began more than 40 years ago, in 1981. Frontier Western Shop opened a small store on Highway 2, in the small southern Alberta town of Claresholm. Located in the heart of southern Alberta's ranch and rodeo country, our deep roots in the industry give us the expertise to help our customers make the very best purchases.
We are proud to be a family owned and operated business to this day. We continue to grow and change each year with the ever-evolving western industry and truly believe that you won't find better customer service anywhere in Canada.
We value high quality products. We source and buy tack and apparel, design and build it, and most importantly: we use it. Everything you see on this website is actually in the store and we are more than happy to answer any and all questions you may have.
Aside from all the amazing products you can browse, order and get shipped for free on this site, we also offer professional expertise when it comes to saddle fitting, custom saddle building, saddle repairs and reconditioning, custom bit making and repair, custom hat fitting, hat shaping.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lot of square footage but lots of room to walk around. Good selection of western saddles and tack. Poor selection of grooming & health products. Adequate selection of clothing. Some household items, jewelry & kids stuff. High prices.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Extremely rude, we walked in and they wouldn’t stop staring at us. We wanted to buy something for my horse but will never be returning as they were extremely unwelcoming. Their prices are awful as well! Hope this place shuts down soon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On or about noon on Sunday, December 29th, we (my wife-Tiffany) had the absolute pleasure meeting a gal, embarrassingly, she shared her name and we (I) omitted to take note . She was in her 20’s we think. Later to cash out on our purchases we also chatted with Donna and this wonderful gal. I left her my cell number as my wife and I were very interested in purchasing a buffalo skull when they become available.
The gal we spoke with was very enlightening, informative, personable and just a delight to chat with. Please convey our thanks and the pleasure meeting her & Donna and also comment that your store was a magnet to our wallet.
Will we return? We reckin’ so

Always great quality with plenty of selection to choose from. The staff is always very willing to help. Would recommend for anyone looking for quality merchandise.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just picked up my custom Greeley hat after working with Dusty to design it. I live in Calgary but it’s well worth the drive. I got my last felt hat from a well known place in Calgary but the custom fit process was way more in depth at Frontier. Coming from someone who has a hard time finding a hat that fits, I highly recommend going to visit the people at Frontier, and not just for hats but also tack and everything else western related.
