★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've always enjoyed the educational signs Friends of Kootenay Lake has in place around Nelson on the lake: I'm able to identify the migratory birds, the ones who overwinter and better understand the complexities of the water system. This organization in all that they do--I encourage you to visit their website and donate--is vital in maintaining the ecological health of Kootenay Lake. Thank you to the hardworking staff at Friends of Kootenay Lake.
