About Fort Garry United Church
Rev. Min-Goo Kang
Min-Goo is an energetic and open-minded person, who loves exploring new things and learning from everyone he meets. He is passionate about the places where we live: the Earth, North America, the prairies, Winnipeg, every corner of the city including Fort Garry, and about the living word of God, who is speaking to us through the Scriptures and the whole creation. As a landed immigrant to Canada from South Korea, he appreciates the positive and dynamic aspects of cultural diversity in Canada while being thankful for the Korean culture he was brought up with. As a newcomer to Winnipeg from BC, he loves the big sky the prairies has to offer, the wild and rich ecosystem of this land, and the friendly people, who arguably represent the very best of Canada. He is very excited about his new life in Winnipeg, and the new journey he embarked upon together with the congregation of Fort Garry United Church. Min-Goo is grateful for his wife, Ha Na Park, who has been called to minister with the United Church in Meadowood, and for their two boys, Peace and Jah-bi Kang. Min-Goo’s personal mission statement: “to create a thriving and sharing community of faith, by deeply and meaningfully connecting with God, one another and the world through Jesus Christ”
