In addition to our regular services at 10:30 on Sundays, our Church also has the following activities:

The Christian Education Committee exists to deepen understanding and explore all aspects of a Christian life though Sunday school lessons, youth group meetings, adult Bible studies and Vacation Bible School.

Sunday School and Youth Group meet every 2^nd Sunday, during church service.  Adult Bible studies run 2-3 times a year, meeting usually on Tuesday evenings, for anywhere from 4-10 weeks.  Vacation Bible School meets for 5 evenings, usually in August.

The First Presbyterian Church Men’s Breakfast Club meets every second Saturday at 9:00 AM in the Church hall (basement).  We meet for fellowship and to raise funds for the Sunday School.  We have these breakfast meetings from October to May.

Breakfast is $5:00 and usually bacon or sausage with eggs, hash browns, toast and coffee.

The next  Men’s Breakfast is usually noted in the announcements.Come and check us out.

The Women’s Missionary Society (WMS)consists of women from our congregation and other congregations in the community.  The purpose is outlined by the National WMS:

The Women’s Missionary Society is a community of Christians whose purpose, in response to the love of God in Jesus Christ, is to encourage one another and all the people of the church to be involved in local and world mission through prayer, study, service and fellowship.

The WMS meets on the first Wednesday of the month (except July and August) at First Presbyterian Church at 1:30 pm.

At the meetings we learn about the mission activities of the Presbyterian Church both within Canada and internationally.

We support theses missions in various ways.  Sometimes financially and sometimes more concretely. For example, members of the group and congregation knitted pneumonia vests and caps for babies in India.  Members of the congregation have knitted “Comfort Doll” for ICross Canada.

Locally, we’ve donated food to the Salvation Army’s Food Bank and have also collected items for the Portage Women’s Shelter.

Recently, the congregation joined with us in donating hygiene items for MCC Refugee Kits
