Great place to see many styles of music on 4 or 5 different stages. Last shows start at 11pm., then it moves indoors.

This festival has supported a racist theatre production, SLAV, despite calls from the community to acknowledge the production's use of cultural appropriation and its cultural insensitivity. Enslavement of African peoples was introduced by New France in the 1600s, and did not end until 1834. SLAV is created by white settlers - this insults the history of pain and suffering that took place on this land and elsewhere. If we can't understand and hear these songs in their full historical context, then we are doing everyone a disservice. The songs are re-interpreted without consent of the originating culture.

I used to attend jazz fest every summer. However, this year, the festival's choice to program SLAV by Robert Lepage and Betty Bonifassi has caused me to morally abstain from all of the performances. To allow two white artists to profit off of the songs of slaves is despicable. Slaves songs carry with them the death and violence inflicted upon African Americans at the hands of white settlers, and the profits gained by white settlers in inflicting death and suffering upon African Americans. It is not and never will be appropriate for this piece to be staged.

Heck yes! My favourite event of the summer in Montreal! So many free high quality performances and musicians coming to play. It's a great place to chill and discover new music. The organization does a great job year after year organizing the performance line up and a safe entertaining space. 100% must!

Probably the best festival in Montreal for free outdoor shows and activities. Plenty to do outdoors as well as world renowned artists playing at venues across the city. If you like Jazz/Blues, this is your choice destination to get a taste of Montreal like at no other time in the year.
