Extra Foods - Meadow Lake

This is a good store with both Pro's and Cons. THE PROS: They have good variety and good prices. Certain things are cheaper than others but all and all for Meadow lake it's not bad. The store is clean and some of the staff are really nice.The store is however not perfect. THE CONS: The main problem is I noticed mistakes on my receipt every week i shopped there. When something was advertised on special it would scan at the regular price. Worse is the cashiers did not know what to do and even refused to acknowledge the error and give me the flyer advertised price. By law if something scans at a different price then advertised then customers must receive that item for free but staff at this Extra foods were clueless of this policy and refused to put it in practice. The gentleman with the Turban is the worse to deal with. I AM NOT RACIST as I am Persian myself and lived in India for years but i did find them very rude and avoided contact him. But everytime I had a problem with my order the Turban guy just barged in and talked to me very rudely and aggressively. To fix an error on a receipt I had to wait an additional 30-40 minutes which made me run late in my day. That is NOT ok! The errors were so frequent that I actually did not want to shop there because I wanted to avoid being delayed 38 minutes and wanted to avoid having to argue with those rude cashiers who seem to always barge in when I had an issue. It was stressful and ruined my day. I should not have to fight like that in order to buy something that is clearly printed on special in the flyer The other problem is the way they advertise prices. It is very deceptive. The signage for example will have in big bold writing Muffins $3 but on the side in VERY small VERTICAL unreadable characters it is written buy 2 or more. I am from Ontario and the store policy signage laws state that the actual price for single unit item must be included in large characters as well if it is different than the special price. So the signage SHOULD be: Muffins $3.79 each or 2 for $3. Many times i fell in that trap having to pay more thinking I am getting it on special. Not everyone's eyesight is sharp enough to read small print that is on top of that placed vertically. That to me borders some type of FALSE ADVERTISING although technically it isn't. It seems dishonest and deceptive. I spoke to many people in Meadow Lake who had the same issue with this store and because Meadow Lake is small and limited, people don't have a choice to shop there. To resolve this they need to fix their computer prices to match their special and if there is a problem they need to EDUCATE their cashiers on steps to take to resolve them in a POLITE RESPECTFUL AND PROFESSIONAL manner. After all , without our business , no one at that store would have salaries. Finally, they need to fix their signage to reflect a more HONEST and accurate depiction of the items on special which would include the price of the single unite item. EDIT: March 13 2021: been back in Meadowlake for 2 weeks now and I have been to the store 2 times and all 2 times ERRORS on my receipt: advertised specials scanning at a higher price than advertised: week 1: toilet paper 8.95 scanning at 14.95. Week 2 bought xmas cookies from reduces bin with a 94 Cents sign, scanning at $2.48 at the cash, bought Pasta with a huge $1 sign, scanning at $1.48. Cashier was clueless again and the female assistant manager was rude. People in lign getting mad at me although it is not my fault they messed up prices in the computers. I will place my complaint at head office. ***I have been served by cashiers NOT WEARING A MASK even though security kicks out customer who dont***

Customer service was good. The low rating is due to higher prices than what I'm used to. Keep in mind that this is Saskatchewan and I've been living in alberta. This is my first Saskatchewan grocery store experience.

Sadly they are unable to get enough staff. Only 2 handicapped parking stalls that everyone uses. No help for the handicapped.

I was appalled at the service from the pharmacy. Refused to sell me medical supplies because they disagreed with me when I was well within my legal right to purchase the products. They put my safety at risk due to their lack of compassion and should be shut down. Ignorant is all I can say and shame on the staff there. You should be fired. I feel sorry for meadow lake if this is who is helping them.

I enjoy going to this gas bar that's located on Flying Dust reserve. They have friendly cashiers and gas jockies. They always has a friendly smile and ask if you need any help.

This place had great variety and was well laid out. They even had kids clothing and an international section. It was disappointing for me because I am allergic to milk and options for me were few. While they had plant based milk, they had no dairy free butter or yogurt. So I was technically not able to get my cooking essentials from a community grocery store

The security is a bit much for there profiling. Don't treat people like there criminals n follow them right from entering to exiting

It was just peachy- though they didnt have peaches, wrong time of year lol BUT they did have tamarind which they never had before...and some fancy schmancy icheban noodles, which is an essential bachelor food. By fancy, I mean innumerable vast choice, I couldn't decide so went with the Golden oldie of kimchi noodles?...which coop doesn't even have?
