Congratulations to the University of Calgary’s Baja team – Schulich Off-Road!
The team consists of ~30 engineering students, who designed and built a single seat mini-dune buggy to compete in the SAE Collegiate Series. They returned back from the competition in Rochester, NY at the beginning of June securing an 8th place overall finish of 100 teams! This is the best the team has ever done, and they are keen to do even better next year. Encore Metals provided the Baja team with much of the material for the frame & suspension members, steering rack & housing, steering knuckles, and our hubs. We were happy to help out the engineers of the future! "Your help in the procurement of these materials made it possible for a large group of students to apply practical design skills and to help us become better engineers. As we are students, running on a student budget, your contributions made the difference between building a car with off the shelf components, and a car designed by students with custom components.
