It is an industrial kitchen devoted to Mexican and latin food. It used to be also a supplier of carnitas, and other items. Since before the Covid they stopped producing many things. Right now it's only a small store and they are making tortillas only. You buy from them or go to the latin convenience stores.

A real tortillaria is really hard to find, El Comal always has good fresh tortilla, chips and totopos. Along with a reasonable selection of Mexican fresh and preserved food stuffs.

They have the BEST fresh corn tortillas in the city! They were the best price I’ve seen and they were still warm when I bought them. Not to mention, they carry a variety of Mexican cheeses and homemade salsas. They also have BOMB tortilla chips that they make in house ☺️ a good variety of canned foods and dried chilis. OHH and I almost forgot, they have TAMALES!!! TAMALES that you can heat up at home. Amazing. Also the lady who was the cashier was the sweetest lady ever, even though we didn’t know how to communicate properly but nonetheless she was a gem and definitely made my day. Everything is very well priced!

Great, friendly service and a consistent supply of products that are otherwise hard to find. We come here all the time to buy fresh tortillas at a great price, and always leave with more stuff than we planned. Manager goes out of her way to make sure customers leave happy. They treat us like valued customers even though we spend maybe ten or fifteen bucks at a time here.

The tortillas are excellent, the product selection is quite limited and a bit expensive. The cashier is an Asian lady who doesn’t really know anything about Latin food and who doesn’t speak Spanish. I was quite disappointed with the little bags of chicharron. They are not cheap and it used to be homemade style, not anymore. Now it’s just pork rinds, like the ones that you can buy at Costco in a 18 oz container for $13.

Love going to authentic Mexican places. Unfortunately, the deli side was closed for renovations but I found what I needed. They've got the basics for a nice Mexican meal: corn tortillas, various tortilla chips, Pico de Gallo. They also have an assortment of tamales, dried beans, peppers and other ingredients that I have not tried yet. I will be back for sure and hopefully I'll be able to order lunch here next time.

Fabulous spot for all of your Mexican cooking needs! Freshest most delicious corn tortillas that I use to make enchiladas at home. Discovered El Comal during the initial Covid19 isolation/shutdown in spring 2020. We could no longer visit our favourite Mexican Restaurant in Bellingham WA and decided to learn to make them at home. They have all the cheeses, chips, peppers, Coke, and all sorts of other hard to find ingredients.
