Or, cette industrie fonctionnant à plein régime embauchait des milliers de travailleurs, la majorité étant de fervents catholiques. C’est pourquoi on retrouve dans le quartier central la plus grande église du diocèse de Québec. On peut aussi dire sans gêne que l’église Saint-Alphonse est l’une des plus belles, le savoir-faire et les donations des fidèles ayant servi à la doter de magnifiques vitraux, boiseries et bas-reliefs. Les bénévoles passionnés du Centre d’interprétation du patrimoine religieux guident les visiteurs dans l’église et ses expositions thématiques.
The city of Thetford has long had a mono-industrial vocation. This industry, operating at full capacity, employed thousands of workers, the majority of whom were devout Catholics. This is why we find in the central district the largest church of the diocese of Quebec. We can also say without embarrassment that the Church of Saint-Alphonse is one of the most beautiful, the know-how and the donations of the faithful having served to equip it with magnificent stained-glass windows, woodwork and bas-reliefs. Passionate volunteers from the Religious Heritage Interpretation Center guide visitors through the church and its thematic exhibits.
