I've been going to Edward Carriere Salon for 10+ years. I have had many amazing haircuts here, which is why I've kept coming back. Today I called to book an appointment and was told I would have to show my vaccination QR code upon arrival. It is illegal and discriminatory for them to require this information. Edward Carriere, you just lost two long term loyal customers, but more importantly, you've violated the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and other Canadian laws made to protect the people from such discrimination. I am greatly disappointed and disgusted.

Girlie is incredible! I’ve been seeing her for a few years. She is a curl and texture wizard. Great environment and staff!

Great old building with a lot of charm. Limited parking in a moderately dodgy location. It's always kind of dirty. Hair not always swept up and is built up in corners after what must be many disinterested attempts to clean it up. Splashes of ?? on walls that are never washed. But the music is great, staff is wonderful and very talented. Terrific hair and make up product selection, but none that I've seen are cruelty free. Hair services are on point - not too high or low for what you get. Main floor has high end artisanal jewelry and the likes. They have aesthetic services as well but I have never used them. Updating march/22 - I continue to be a customer and can say that the cleanliness has really improved. They have also added a line of men's shaving and shower items that are high quality. Continue to get great haircuts.

I recently had to absolute worst experience I have ever had with a salon. Ever. A demi had been put on my hair, that was darker than my natural. After a few months of it fading substantially, I decided to go back to blonde. I chose a salon that was highly rated and though I knew it was expensive I trusted that it would be done properly and professionally, so I wasn’t as anxious. When I arrived the stylist was friendly but basically useless in terms of suggestions other than to bleach the whole thing (even though I though highlights or a balayage made more sense) I agreed, trusting she knew what she was doing. She then began applying the bleach from the bottom up in small sections, within 5 minutes she pulled over a young nervous looking employee who was sweeping the floors, apparently an apprentice, who couldn’t even figure it how large to make the sections and repeatedly asked questions about basic techniques, letting the stylist know that she was obviously uncomfortable and had no idea what she was doing. The young girl continued to move very awkwardly, fumbling with the dye and dragging the cotton pieces through my hair with the colour. Within half an hour of the appointment and the first 10 minutes of the bleach application, someone came in and let Deirdre know that another one of her clients had arrived. Deirdre apparently saw only $$$ and asked the nervous inexperienced girl if she could finish up, as well as mix and apply the colour she would use for my roots. There was 3/4 of my hair left. About 1.5 hours later Deirdre was finishing up her other client and I was watching as this girl drag cotton and bleach slowly and unevenly through my hair, flinging and dropping colour EVERYWHERE (which apparently I was being charged for), all I could think about was that the top of my head hadn't even been touched and bleach had been frying the underneath of my hair for almost 2 hours. FINALLY Deirdre came back over and dismissed the young girl, I could see the panic as she rushed through the rest of it and then only let it sit for about 15 minutes. She continued to play it off like it was normal and I continued to hold my tongue because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and didn't want to jump to any conclusions. After the first toner I had bright yellow PATCHY LEOPARD HAIR and the salon was empty because I had been there for about 4 hours. The second toner hid the patchiness a little bit and I was fine with leaving with wet hair because I had work in the morning and it was way past closing time. I had been waiting around for a ridiculous amount of time at each station, waiting twenty minutes for her to come to the sink then another 40 minutes while she "mixed my toner". I ended up leaving with soaking wet, patchy awful hair, which I paid about $350 for because they were closed, I was starving and I had no idea what else to do because she would not acknowledge her mistake. I called the manager the next day who was so sassy and condescending and continued to tell me it was my fault for not properly communicating what I wanted. I didn't realize I had to communicate that I didn't want lines and leopard spots or burnt off hair. I actually could not believe this man even had a job, he was SO awful to deal with and would not admit any mistakes were made or give me any of my money back, he actually told me that the young girl would be "dealt with" not DEIRDRE who was the stylist I had hired. We finally agreed on me coming in the next day to have it fixed by someone else, he told me that he would be in to see it and we would go from there. When I got there the next day, I asked the receptionist where he was as he had told me to come in and see him, she coldly let me know that he was not there and wouldn't have stayed anyway because he really didn't care. I painfully sat there while another stylist did his best to fix my hair without ruining more of it, so I was thankful to him as it was obviously not his problem. Do not make the same mistake I did. They are expensive because they are greedy, not good.

I found this place online and purchased products through their website. They not only had EXACTLY what I was searching for, which were the Antica Farmacista Oil Diffuser line, but their customer service was AMAZING! When I placed my order, one of the items were sold out so I got an email by Melissa, (the general manager), to kindly offer me another option. Wow.. what an asset to this company she is! She outdid herself when I requested some scent samples and really went out of her way to deliver quality service! I will be a continued customer since they're fast, reliable, and kind. A+ ONLINE STORE!

Had an appointment with Nicole and can't say enough about my wonderful haircut but as well her wonderful care. During the pandemic she and the entire Edward Carriere staff has made me feel safe and at ease. Appreciate having to show my QR code on arrival to keep us all safe. Today's appointment I am recuperating from Shingles on my face and head. She was so accommodating, gentle and kind. She did not rush as it took quite abit more time than usual. Always stopping to check that I was doing ok. I appreciate you so very much Nicole ❀️

I find the salon to be excellent. Jane is my hairdresser and never feels to impress me with her work. All the people are very friendly and caring. That's a good thing.
