En raison de mon manque total de connaissances du milieu musical, j’avais quelques appréhensions. Toutefois, Mme Labiau est une professeure qui, en plus d’être une excellente pianiste, fait preuve d’une douceur et d’une patience qui rendent l’apprentissage agréable et stimulant. Grâce à elle, j’ai fait beaucoup de progrès. Elle a réussi à me communiquer sa passion avec ferveur et enthousiasme. Je la recommande chaudement! I always wanted to learn the piano, but it was only at 40 that I jumped. Because of my total lack of knowledge of the music world, I had some apprehensions. However, Ms. Labiau is a teacher who, in addition to being an excellent pianist, shows a softness and patience that makes learning enjoyable and stimulating. Thanks to her, I made a lot of progress. Les bienfaits que j'en retire depuis presque 2 ans sont remarquables à plus d'un égard: mémoire, souplesse des mains, posture du corps fatiguant moins le dos, et surtout la coordination qui me faisait tellement défaut ainsi que le plaisir de jouer des morceaux de musique de prodigieux compositeurs tels que Mozart, Bethoven, etc. Et je n'oublie pas la confiance en soi lorsqu'on constate les progrès après chaque leçon. Chaque heure de cours sont une pause fraîcheur et douceur dans ma vie qui court toujours très vite. I first started playing the piano to help my hands stay supple as I got older and to relieve pain. My daughter was already a student of Madame Labiau and I liked her way of teaching gently and with positive encouragement. So I decided to learn too. The benefits that I have received for almost 2 years are remarkable in more than one respect: memory, flexibility of the hands, body posture less tiring of the back, and especially the coordination that I was so lacking as well as the pleasure of playing pieces of music by prodigious composers such as Mozart, Bethoven, etc. And I don't forget the self-confidence when you see progress after each lesson. Each hour of class is a refreshing and sweet break in my life which always runs very quickly.

I worked very hard independently, and although I could adequately play a jazz tune on the piano, my lack of proper pianistic technique and musical knowledge was hampering my progress as a pianist. I decided classical lessons were needed. I started lessons with Nataliya in January 2021, and was immediately impressed with her. Nataliya is approachable, joyful, and passionate about music; she is adept at identifying and addressing problem areas and she is encouraging and firm in terms of teaching musicality, accuracy, and good technique. Nataliya understands how I learn; she presents information and skills in a logical and beneficial sequence and helps me grasp concepts necessary to achieve my potential as a pianist. Nataliya knows what to teach and when to teach it. She expertly selects material that will help me advance while building a firm musical foundation; she clearly demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of the repertoire and piano pedagogical materials. At the same time, Nataliya maintains a flexible approach to teaching. She sets clear attainable goals (short-term weekly goals and longer-term goals). Nataliya motivates me to learn, practice, and play correctly. Nataliya clearly has a desire to pass the gift of music along to others. The combination of her strong musical skills, her sensitivity and knowledge makes Nataliya an extraordinary teacher. It is truly a joy to learn and discover music with Nataliya’s guidance!
