Went into Dutch Bakery today to pick up some cakes to try. The location is almost an institute in the Victoria landscape as it’s been here for years and I remembered it from my childhood. The Baked goods: They were okay. We weren’t wowed by them and for the price think they should be a lot better. $5 and change for a dry cake with a good cream icing wasn’t what I was hoping for. The cream was good but the cake was very dry. The Staff: Just had the feeling they had much better things to do than be there. Was an okay experience but can’t see myself returning to the old haunt unless I heard things had greatly improved.

After walking from Bear Mountain Resort to downtown Victoria, one is left feeling a little hungry. I stumbled upon this gem of a spot and dropped in. I wasn’t disappointed. While the all day breakfast was appealing, I opted for the lunch special - a bacon, cheddar cheeseburger, with fries and a drink. It hit the spot and did it’s job! The service was friendly, attentive and clearly took their Covid responsibilities to heart. Well done!

A hidden gem with a rich history in Victoria. Delicious food, fantastic pastries. Kind service and affordable prices. If you are tired of lining up for an hour at the β€œhip brunch spots”, this tasty time capsule is the place for you!

Swung by this bakery recently and their pastries were great! They do special orders for cakes and other products too. Their food’s priced decent as well!

Must try items from the Dutch Bakery: vanilla slices, almond danishes, lemon loaf, Goldstreams, half-ways, dollar rolls (only if you love marzipan), chocolate dipped shortbread cookies, sausage rolls (best!), cheese swirl crackers and meat pies. The cakes can be dry and I can’t speak to the chocolates as I have not tried them. I have not tried everything yet but really want to try the raisin bread. The diner is ho-hum and mostly seniors which is great if that’s the vibe you’re looking for. I would recommend taking the above listed treats to go. Their website needs more descriptions and not list all products are listed.

This place is great. First time in. A lot bigger inside then I thought it would be from the outside. Scored some fresh out of the oven croissants and they were delicious. Will try the diner side one day for sure. Also my new place to buy chocolates!!! Good job.

Awesome little breakfast spot or a little coffe & bakery treat. We opted for the coffee and treat option - dutch shortbread and spinach feta pastry. Decaf coffee tastes like a medium roast (so not super bitter) and shortbread was an awesome treat to dip in! (was very sweet so if that's not your thing, try another one of their fancy cookies) Spinch feta pastry was light, flakey and flavourful. There is a restaurant inside to sit down, bistro chairs outside, and some wooden seat structure beside the bike lane (might just be a summer thing)

The Dutch bakery has some very tasty turkey pies and pastries at the counter. Seasonal strawberry shortcake is layered with fresh buttercream, fresh strawberry purΓ©e and vanilla custard.
